That's what you get for trying to gas up at a less than top-tier gas station and you would not have had that problem if you had the tailgate damper pre-installed!
In my area, Costco gets theirs out of the same truck as everyone else except Mobil. And the damper was fully functional; might have been the reason I wasn't squeezing the nozzle hard enough, all that muscle atrophy from the damper already!

Costco is rated top tier. I would join but it's too car away an there's always a line for gas there. The savings on premium would pay for the membership 2 or 3 times based on my fuel use.

Same here. I pay for the membership several times over with what I save at the pump.

Yep. Hang my head in shame again for being wrong. I will correct my post. I guess I categorize them along with Scab Mart and BJ's.

When I picked up the truck, it was down an 1/8 of a tank. I mentioned it to sales guy and he gave me the choice of waiting for them to run to the gas station or a free ballcap. I'm a sucker for a ballcap. Tonight I went to fill up for the first time and when the pump clicked off, I gave it a few more squeezes. Got in truck and it's showing down an 1/8. Ford Pass matches so I don't think it's the trouble some have reported with that.

The only thing I can think of is that I was at Costco and they have the nozzles with the seal around them and that maybe caused the issue?

Anyone experience something like this? I searched threads and didn't see any posts about it.

EDIT - It was the Costco pump. Stopped at Mobil and it filled up no problem.
Drugs hidden in the tank? Seen it in a movie once.

I’m pretty sure nozzles nationwide have the collar to prevent spills. It’s a Fed requirement I believe. Your gauge may be off, not the actual fill of the tank. My ā€˜20 fills up just fine for what’s it’s worth.
I live in Massachusetts, years ago the nozzles had them but they went back to conventional nozzles quite a number of years ago.

I had this happen one time at a non-Cotsco station and only realized it after I took off. I think that it is the non-cap seal and the emission control nozzles. It almost happened again but I removed the nozzle and put it back in. All good

Have the same issue with my diesel… wait a minute and fill again… wait one more… fill again. The foam does the click.
the tank hose is another faulty construction on this truck. I realy would like to know what the designers of this do professionally…

When I retired from Ford, one of my fuel system engineers was on a joint Car/Truck task force to understand premature shut off, with focus on the capless system... suppositorily the result was a system that worked on any and all gas station pumps.... Looks like that was not the case..that said, my Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus have no problems at my nearest Costco. That is why I recommended a check by the dealer as opposed to just finding another station with a different nozzle.

best,
Phil
In europe I have the same issue at all stations with my diesel. imho the hose is too short or too slim… but i am not a car what ever designer/engineer…
