I initially went with this purely based on the logic of maximizing space. What I learned from this particular mod is that while I really dig the concept, the weight of it negated the value of space savings for me as it’s impacting my payload which is more important to me. I am also finding myself nervous at how much weight I have on my tail gate when down when I have the HF area filled.I won't argue about it being heavy as I have mentioned it on the original thread a little over a year ago(close to two). Compared to a portable tool box? The portable tool box takes up space that you are trying to maximize so not really a good comparison there. Won't argue the latch rods.much as it was a little pain to set, but once it was set I was good.
Put simple it is great for the small things(straps and what not) since the space is limited. Even with a camping setup it can be beneficial. For me it was the lack of storage under the rear seats(we all know that tiny space sucks and Ford could have done better).
Is it for everyone? Not really because it all depends on your needs.
I do agree we all have different needs and I could see someone getting value out of this but not sure it’s even close to the majority or even worth making based on their time / effort based on its current weight / design. I’d like to see what it cost in carbon fiber.
Here is all the crap I keep in mine when DD.. slightly diff when camping. Either way I have learned to focus on light things. Again I’d be hard pressed to recommend this over a little case like I have in the bed.
