Wow the dark side. People dislike it that much?
Only because they haven't tried it. Once you go damper you'll never go back.
Seriously though, I've had tailgate cables snap on other trucks I've owned after they're a few years old.

Here's another one. Having a perfectly legitimate, cheap, useful mod on my truck prevents me from the need to put a bunch of stupid, useless stickers on my rear window.
I just put one on for my bud's craft brewery. Normally not a fan of stickers but this one is for beer, so....

I had it installed for a while. don't like it. my dislike is from experience not prejudice. and it was maybe 2 summer months and it started rusting on the chrome rod

You need Lucas Damper Fluid Conditioner. Get the synthetic, not regular. :giggle:

Looking to add a damper to my fuel door . . .

Found one for the 12v cover on the lower front dash!

Seems every thread with the word "dampers" just keeps drawing in the haters....I think there's latent love being denied.... ? ? ?

I think you'll find the fuel door damper and the sun visor damper right next to the catch cans, the seat heaters and those three little lights to stick in the grille... all in the gimmick accessory aisle!....

Now that aught to stimulate the thread!! ?

I installed the tailgate damper on my 2022 Ranger this weekend. I actually had damage from an accidental slam (or slams) opening. I'm not sure when it occurred or where (the truck was leased for my business), but the right pivot point was severely damaged. Ford warranty and dealer were great, they fixed it under warranty, including paint match. The issue is with repeated gate dropping the right pivot point can get out of round and then the plastic piece inside cracked and fell out in my case. $35 from Amazon and ten minutes to install and now the tailgate can't slam down no matter who drives the truck.

As to interfering with removing the tailgate, I never do. If you need to remove it often, then yeah, skip the damper and just make sure you don't let the tailgate slam open.
