Hi folks....I'm a new Ranger owner ('23 XLT) and I'm a bit confused about Sync updates. When I'm in my truck, it says Sync is up to date (Version 3.4), but on my Ford.com account page, it says I have an available Sync update (there are actually two alerts, but one is for navigation which I don't have). I went through the process of downloading the update onto a USB drive, but I'm hesitant to load it since the truck says it is already up to date. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would trust your truck more than the Ford account page. Most likely the Ford account hasn't updated yet and they've been known to not have accurate up to date info on it.

Robert, I just checked my account and it's showing my old version of Sync too. I updated mine to the newest version last Thursday for reference.

Robert, I just checked my account and it's showing my old version of Sync too. I updated mine to the newest version last Thursday for reference.

Good to know, thanks. As a matter of fact, I hadn't noticed before, but when I looked at my Ford.com account just now, it actually doesn't show anything next to Sync Version.....it's blank. I guess that's why it thinks I need an update!

A related question.....when you say you updated yours last week, do you do that using a USB drive or does it happen automatically if you are in range of your wifi?

I did mine over wifi. I've never updated mine since I bought it 3.5 years ago so mine took almost 24 hours. You can set it to auto update under the settings on the main screen. This way you don't end up like me 3.5 years later with an old version. lol

Just playing the devil's advocate here. As this truck was originally designed and engineered in Australia, has anyone tried the Sync update in its native language? ;)

I got that email from Ford as well. After reading thru the thread, I went to my account/app and after picking the vehicle from my garage, I got this message - I do have the the barebones XL

I've long since given up on Ford for Sync updates. Been using Cyanlabs and have never had any issues. It formats and downloads the files to the USB correctly. No messing with unzipping programs. No messing with uploading XML files to Ford.

I upgraded to 3.4.22251 back in October. Just checked my Ford.com account. It says I'm uptodate with version 3.4.22200, probably the latest they recognize. It even has the correct last update date.

With all the issues everyone seems to have with Fords update process, I would recommend everyone to use the Cyanlabs program. You can actually go back to previous versions if you want. Maybe not to 3.3 as 3.4 was a major upgrade to the screens.

If you don't like the blue colors. Try the Lincoln color schemes. The are more grey/brown. That's what I do and run it in night mode all the time. You do need to use Forscan to make the setting stick, but you can try them out using the settingsenus.

And like Magic, Today my Sync is up to date on the web site. Didn't even have to do anything. Well sometime Ford throws you a bone. :LOL: Don't really know if it was because I updated the Nav yesterday or not, but all good today.

Maybe after you do the Update that is available...
I'm in the same boat. I successfully did the update via USB but am unable to upload the XML file (get failed to upload error message).

Mine finished its update a few day ago. I just tethered it to my phone and it downloaded while i drove over the course of a few drives.

I noticed today that there is a zoom option on the backup camera. Is that new or am i just now noticing that.
