Hey, I resemble that remark! haha Though maybe more like 1 mile to get to 55mph.
The amount of people who floor it past me pulling away from a stoplight is comical. Only for me to catch up to them at the next stoplight. Such a waste of energy and money.
Lol I do the same and It's the same way here, it's like every light is a race to the next one. What's even more comical are the ones who have to still be going 45 mph and slam on their brakes right before the light. I swear they must go through brakes every 6 months! Me, if I see the light is red I just let off the gas and ease up to it. Most times it changes green (most surface streets are 2 lanes here) and I end up cruising right by them.
In the city of Minneapolis, MN, South 6th St. takes you thru downtown and morphs into to the I-94 east on ramp. From Hennepin Av to the ramp, there are 12 stop lights. If you motor down S. 6th at 22 mph, you will hit every light green, and sometimes beat the folks that treat it as a series of 410ft long drag strips.

unfortunately most of us live in a state where the speed limit is significantly higher than 55 mph. Maybe not unfortunately, given that you can reach your destination faster, but as far as fuel mileage is concerned.

I’ve got to live in two states with my F150 2.7 crew cab and have seen the difference first hand what mph in a brick does to mileage. The first state was upstate NY. And I had a 52 or 53 mile commute one way. All county and state highways, I think two stop signs, 95% 55 mph, the other 5% 45 mph. I worked nights and went into work when dark, and came home in the morning - very little traffic. I always got to 10th gear and just cruised. Always between 55 mph and 60 - most of the time cruise control (still watching for deer). I saw incredible mileage. By the time I left to Texas my lifetime average was 24.7 mpg. And it was slowly creeping up. Now my lifetime average has plummeted to 21.5 the last I checked. 55 mph vs 75/80 is huge when mpg is concerned.

With the Ranger, if you’re going 55 or 60, I don’t see how you can’t get significantly better mileage than I got with a smaller engine and only one turbo.

I know I am curious as to what my mileage lifetime would have maxed out as if I had stayed - ditto for if I had a Ranger.
