Funny how brazen they are too. I've only ever seen this with roundabout names like "market adjustment". But they just call it a straight dealer markup lol.

The market adjustment was common when I lived in Hawaii a LONG time ago.

I can understand a small mark up like a grand to $2500 to make up for the money their losing by not having inventory to sell. Going from selling a hundred cars a month to 40 or 50 with overhead cost staying about the same. Same building size an property tax an so on. Cashing in on a hot model is nothing new but the huge sums are new. I remember ZR-1 Vettes an SS camaro's being marked up a few grand in the 90's....like a 5-10% mark up.

I also try to remember when the economy is slow an cars aren't selling we don't mind the dealer taking it in shorts discounting a slow moving or left over model. To some degree it works out in a normal market.

Lastly I'd rather they just be honest an say "market adjustment" an not try charging me 3 grand for $250 worth of junk I don't even want.

for nearly six figures i could likely just get another ranger and throw 10k at it and forget the new bronco ever existed and pocket the rest of the cash while doing everything and maybe more than the bronco can do.
