I'm barely 5'4" so I use the side steps. A driver's side grab handle would have been useful.
I am 5'9 and I use mine all the time. I 100% agree that an "oh shit" bar is needed on the drivers side. no idea why they didn't put them on.

I'm 6'2" and I appreciated the side steps on my F-150. Don't have them or need them with my Ranger. My wife is 5'6" and has no problem without the steps (the passenger grab handle is a plus for her). I should add that we are both in our late 60's with the usual rusty joints that come with age.

I am 6'2". They rub on my pants.. and I like the look of the truck more without them. That said; I have more than a few kids + one with special needs means those went on right after I bought it. I just deal with the step rubbing on my leg a bit. Looks a bit better now that someone mentioned spraying them with tire shine stuff. I was surprised it didn't make the rubber bit slippery.. so they are at least not as dull.. but not bright like chrome. (Note I dont use the bright tire shine.. they lowest bling factor on the goofy scale they put on the cans)

I use my steps, because I feel like using the steps reduces wear and tear on the seats when getting in and out. Plus, I have parents in their 80’s and the steps are a must for them to get in and out.

Hey Patrick,

If you prefer a less shiny finish, you might give Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care a try. Msfitoy turned me on to it a while back and I love it - I use it on the tires and on plastic trim - would even wipe down my sidesteps when I had them installed.

It leaves a rich, matte finish and restores the tires nicely. It removes that brown crud that leaches out of the tires and doesn’t fling off when driving.

Spendy on Amazon but cheaper at detailing suppliers.

As I said elsewhere, the first mod I had planned for my Tremor was step removal. I don't like them. Only thing on the truck that I truly dislike.

But, while still at the dealership waiting to bring my new truck home the warden stated, and then demonstrated, that she needs the steps. Needless to say the steps remain on my truck.

 I believe it to be in my best interest to ensure that the steps remain for as long as I have the truck. Matter of fact if asked "I like those steps!"
4 bolts each step they are made to be removed..bolt holes don't even show.

I agree that a grab handle would be nice. And of course there is just enough differences between the NA Rangers and ROW Rangers so that it is not an easy install for a ROW grab handle.

I currently just grab the A Pillar. I refuse to grab the steering wheel. I have seen too many older trucks with messed up steering wheels and/or columns from people constantly using the steering wheel as a grab bar.

I am 5'9" and my wife is 5'4". We are both disabled and use the side steps all of the time so there is no way I will get rid of them.

All,
I am thinking about removing my steps. I recently saw a Ranger without them and it looked good.

I don't use them. Frankly, they get in the way of me getting in. Heck, even with my wifes Tremor, its not high enough that I use the steps...

Anyone else not use/need them? Anyone else removed them? Pictures?

Have you got a clear picture of them?

Does it leave a slippery finish?

Yes, that's the only reason I have steps!

Nope - it has the finish of a brand new tire - it’s a flat, matte finish, not oily or shiny at all. If folks want that “tire shine” look, this is not for them.

I actually added steps to my Ranger, GoRhino RB20 I believe. I like the look since they're Raptor-like, and they do make washing the roof of the truck a little easier. That being said, I added them for the benefit of others who aren't as tall. Plus they help to block some of the crap that gets thrown up the side of the truck.

But I'm 6'-1", and unless I'm parked in a tight spot (or I overdid legs at the gym), I never actually use the steps myself.
