I would check the legal regulations where you are about using these while driving on roads/highways. Many states have various rules about what amounts under- lighting. Some regulate colors or intensity. Some ban them for on-road use entirely. Just because you see someone doing it doesn't make it legal, they just haven't been caught yet.

I'm thining about this too but having them up on the side of the running boards. Mine have a lip going up to protect the body. They work work kinda like a side marker.Not quite as extreme but enough for side and step visibility...
Wonder if you could get them two sided with white facing down and amber facing up?
