My rear rotors were replaced just before I bought the truck by the dealer and 30k miles later I had to replace them again. Rear brakes on these trucks are garbage.

Sheesh! Is it the brakes that are garbage or the rotors? Or both? The new brakes I bought are OEM, did I mess up?

Bendix Fleet Metlok pads (Might have misspelled that) were very good to me, and I was towing pretty heavy at the time. Never had another problem out of the brakes.

I bought Raybestos heavy duty. Too early to tell how it will go. Supposedly higher iron content.

You stated the rear pads looked good, but were they worn evenly front to back?
You may have a sticking slider - pay close attention to the inner pad wear.

I think it is a few things.

The rear brakes seem to lack some cooling. I found that out when I first swapped out my rear pads and rotors. The new combination was more aggressive than the front Motorcraft pads and I noticed them staying hotter/not cooling off very fast. (They were the Bosch Quietcast)

Once I swapped to the same material front and rear that problem went away completely.

I think the OEM Motorcraft pads don't deal with the heat very well and end up depositing on the rotors heavily and causing the vibration.

I recommend that people with the problem swap out the rear pads and rotors, but also pad slap the front with the same material pad to prevent possibly overheating the rears.

This is what my rear rotors looked like. Those aren't cracks and they don't follow the vents in the rotors. Why the pads would deposit like that I have no idea, but I feel like that's what you're seeing.

Mine looked like that except a little worse and there was some minor cracking . I just replaced the rotors and reused the pads, they looked fine probably 75% left at around 25k miles.
