I'm disappointed. I was so looking forward to them stuffing one in a mini van. ?

I warned everyone that the disbanding of Dodge’s SRT team was the beginning of the end for high-performance for the brand, but some people just didn’t want to hear it. Then when it came out recently that the Hellcats are getting canceled at the end of 2023 I predicted that would also be the curtain call for all the Hemi V8s, something which was just confirmed.

Replacing the Hemi V8 will be the GME T6 or the Global Medium Engine Turbocharged 6, a name which just rolls off the tongue. It will be used for all Stellantis Global medium platform models, which include the Dodge Challenger and Charger. Please, try to hide your excitement about a turbo-six instead of a bruiser Hemi V8, especially one with a supercharger.

I've driven hundreds, if not thousands of 1/2T pick-ups, few have made me smile like a Hemi Ram 1/4 mile.
I haven't been able to drive one yet but got a ride in a TRX. This year at Mecum they had a small off road course set up and were giving free rides. Just in that short distance you could feel the hp/tq and it put you flat back into your seat.

I guess the TRX was the last gasp of them stuffing a hemi into everything.....

I mean really - 700hp is awesome, but do you REALLY need that much HP in a pickup? It isn't a racecar.
When I was ordering my Jeep I gave the 392 a serious look. It was tempting but I came to my senses and ordered a 2.0 4cyl turbo. ?

I met this guy at the store the other day and he was just getting out of his TRX. We talked for a while and he loves it but says it's really impractical but he just had to have it.

Yeah, that is a good way to put it - cool but impractical. I've ready they get like 10 MPG - less if you put your foot into it.

For me it falls into the "just because you CAN do it doesn't mean you SHOULD".

And an aftermarket business is born. Watch what happens next.

My hunch is they had to drop hemi because of fed regulations and what it would cost them if they continued to sell them. No one would support another bailout for something like that!

I asked him he said he's getting 8 mpg. :surprised:

If I only bought things I need, I'd be wealthy and unhappy. :)

Well the Ford F150 Raptor comes with a twin turbo V6 as standard. The new Toyota Tundra has the same.

Technically, a turbocharger just makes a smaller engine act like a bigger engine in terms of power. Instead of adding cylinders, it just increases the air fuel mixture. It just won't sound like a V8 Hemi.

There's really no comparison though is there. :) Those of us who grew up listening to that V8 growl still love and miss it. I wouldn't pay $80K+ for it but I do miss it.

Nothing like the sound of a V8. It gives me goose bumps when I hear one race by. Now if I won the lottery I could buy lots of toys.
