I had the original 21C24 (21V765) Recall performed on 07/16/20 and the inspection passed revealing that no parts were needed. But got a 2nd recall notice 21C24(21V756) dated March, 2022 and called the Dealer. They told me that Ford wanted to follow up on the original Recall inspection and re-check it again to see if parts are needed. I'm assuming that everyone who had the original inspection will also get this 2nd notice? Made appointment for 04/07/22.

Mine did not get replaced after the check, and the 2nd recall says "Parts are now available. Ford has authorized the dealer to replace the left and right rear headrests". But whether that means they will do that for everyone, or only if their inspection failed, is totally unclear :p

did the fixed headrests get replaced with removable ones the first time??

No, they said at the original inspection that the anchors were according to spec's and that the headrests did not need replacing. Evidently Ford had 2nd thoughts about the initial Recall inspections and is issuing the 2nd notice as a double check for confirmation. They said that the 2nd inspection would determine if they needed to order headrests. :)

The Dealer told me that ordering headrests would depend an whether or not the 2nd inspection determined the need for replacements. But they told me the same thing on the 1st inspection? :)

If we’re confused then the dealers are too! I got the second notice and ignoring it like the first. The seatbelt guide is fine in mine and I did the mod to make my headrests fold as I had the hardware in them just no buttons. My headrests also had metal brackets double taped into them. It’s like the intention was if a noggin slammed into one it would break out the back window. No one rides in the back in my truck so non starter for me.

I also have received a second recall notice for child restraint anchorage system.

the 1st recall was performed on 12/2 /2021. I was told by the dealer that the truck passed.

because of this new notice I called the dealer & was told parts are ordered. the notice
states parts are in stock so I questioned the dealer some more & they did another check
on line for my truck. I was then told it needs the new parts & the dealer would call when
the parts are in.

IMO it would be nice if someone really knew what is going on.......

I have a 2020 and my headrests fold after the dowel mod. Next time I go to the dealer for something I will remove my head rests and let them install what ever they want to replace them with, and then at least I'll know I have folding rests at home.

Seems this 'cost saving' replacement of non-folding rests bit them in the arse.

Update on Recall 21C24...

November of 2021 had (21C24 - 21V765) done. Service department inspected rear anchorages for child restraint safety and said everything fine and according to specs. Rear seat head rest replacements not needed. Done deal.

Received another recall notice (21C24 - 21V756) dated March, 2020. What's up? Called Service department and was told that these anchorages needed to be inspected again and if needed, rear seat head rests would be ordered. Puzzling?

Took the truck in today for this round. Work completed and asked about the verdict. The rep. said that the head rests had been on back order and arrived so they were replaced today. Of the four people that I talked to about this service, each had a different version of the process? Guess that's life in the service lane...

2 perks made the day a little easier... :)
* gave me a loaner!
* the job was completed much quicker than expected!

Interesting. So -- what's the difference with the new headrest? any photos?

Here is a photo of the replacement...don't have a photo of the original.

Does it fold, or removable without needing to partially remove the seat back?

Got mine done about 2 weeks ago, no clue what they did.
At some later date I'll need to go check the headrests.
