Happy to hear all are well after this event.
As you and others said, the truck protected you and your wife. Many people would look at the damage and conclude the vehicle is a POS for taking so much damage from a crash. I can hear oldies saying, 'Back in my day you could run thru a brick wall and not dent the fender". Truth is vehicles are designed to absorb all the energy from a crash, thereby protecting the occupants. and it looks like the Ranger did just exactly that.

Glad to hear your all okay. From past experience with a similar type of accident, do not open a claim with your insurance until you have to. I made this mistake with Progressive. In my case, the other party was cited. Their insurance was taking longer than I liked for their investigation, so I called my insurance company - Progressive. Progressive took care of fixing my car, but then the fun began. The other persons insurance accepted 100% liability, fully compensated Progressive for the repairs on my car, and Progressive dropped me for filing an accident claim. Actually, Progressive dropped me because my son was also in an accident so they claimed we filed 2 accident claims in 6 months. I guess Flo didn't give a ---- that the second claim was not my fault and they were fully compensated. To them, a claim is a claim.

Well the claim is in, the Ranger is totaled and I'm waiting for a packet of papers which explains how all this will work. Problem is it was mailed via UPS as an overnight and was due Tuesday. Now tracking shows "on the way", so this may take a while.

Let me thank you all for your kind comments. It is very much appreciated. I miss the truck and have no idea what's in the future, and am very thankful we were not in my wife's 2005 Corolla.

Hi Marty,
Don't run 91 in CT much but we go from PA to MA to my daughter outside Boston. It's crazy on 84 thru NY, CT and then Mass Pike, 190-290-495 in MA. Some call them MAssholes, but I do hear CT drivers are pretty bad too, no offense:frown:.
We just did that route after Christmas, went north Dec.28 and came home Dec.30. Yup, heavy traffic.

Seeing that your Ranger protected you in that icy crash makes me feel safer on our snowy, icy, hilly Colorado roads. We went to Denver and back over New Year's weekend to visit children and saw a lot of wrecks on I 70 but made it home safe.

I guess that's how you find out if you have a shitty insurance company. I've gone through my insurance before (got tired of waiting for theirs) and had no problems. I have heard people complaining about how long the other guy's insurance is taking or how the other guy won't return calls or whatever and I don't get it--you're paying for insurance, use it. You're also paying them to know how to deal with all that crap so you don't have to.
