I am a new member to forum and I would like to share my horror story so some others can profit from my misfortune …

I ordered my Lariat Super Cab 4x2 on 9/21/2018; the dealer submitted the order through the ROVP program. Over the last several months I periodically contacted the dealer to find out why I had not rec’d a build date and delivery date, the sales person at the dealer checked and was repeatedly told by the Ford scheduler the truck was not yet scheduled and no reason given. After joining the forum I saw that many members that ordered in August and September had build and delivery dates, but I still hadn’t. I went to the dealer today … and to make a 3 hour ordeal brief I came to find out that apparently a required order form was not properly filled out and the order was not approved. This deficiency was not reported by Ford to the dealership and apparently the dealer did not have a follow up procedure in place to check on ROVP orders. The sales manager corrected the deficiency this morning and I now have an approved ROVP order 3+ months after placing my initial order. Lesson for others is … if time passes and the dealer does not have a response from Ford indicating the order was approved, go to the dealer in person and have the sales manager look into it and don’t leave until the problem is resolved. I was told today that I could expect my Ranger by the end of March, 6+ months after my initial order was placed.
Sorry to hear that, sounds like a serious miscommunication between Ford corporate and the dealership. Does this mean you'll be getting the VIP treatment from your dealer?

I'm sorry you had to go thru that, but I'm glad people posted things like this here. I think my dealer was on top of things, but I knew the right questions to ask, and my order was approved a couple days after I submitted it. I'm hoping it will get scheduled next week, but we shall see.

I wonder how many trucks a day they are producing now?

I had a very similar experience. Ordered on August 25. Checked frequently with the dealer. Never received ROVP verification. Went to dealership weekly for three weeks in late November/early December. Gave me a "song & dance" about a "glitch" with the new ordering system. Called the Ford rep a few times (or at least said they did).

On December 13, I demanded my deposit check back, went to another dealer that I called the day before. On Dec 14, the new dealer had my ROVP approval. I've been waiting over the Christmas shutdown for my VIN and build date. Should get that next week (there was no scheduling the last 2 weeks). New dealer told me I would get a January build date and late Feb./early March delivery. Not sure they can pull that off, scheduling next week is reported to be for build week of 2/25.

This late in the game, I may just go find an Oxford White Lariat/501A/4x2/Medium Stone interior within 100 miles and go pick it up. I can have the spray in bedliner and tow package done as dealer add-ons. Problem is that I can't find one like that yet. Looks like the higher profit margin 4x4's are taking first run in the factory.

Just curious what the order of events is - I think I know but wanted to confirm:
  1. Pre Order Placed
  2. ROVP submitted
  3. ROVP approved
  4. VIN assigned?
  5. Build scheduled?
  6. Delivery date scheduled?
Until I get a VIN I can't track my order. I know for mine 1-3 are complete. Are there other steps or do I have these in the wrong order?

Thanks

4, 5 & 6 all basically happen at the same time, so you will know all of those once you get the VIN & can track it on Ford’s website.

The sales manager was very apologetic, and indicated that he was new to the dealership and wasn’t aware of my problem. He said that he has had Ford give my order a “hot” priority and said that any new orders placed that day would not have a delivery date before the end of June. He also said he would give me either a further discount on my order or I could pick some Ranger accessories and he would provide them to me at no cost. He was going to check on 3 other Ranger orders that the dealership placed to make sure that no problems exist with them. Other than me being upset about having another 3 months to wait for my truck, I was pleased as to how the sales manager treated me and I can only hope for VIP treatment!

I have a build date of 1/11 got a window sticker print out from my dealer weeks ago. This is odd
That’s a different week (specifically this week). I’m asking about the following week.

I wonder if it has something to do with the lull in scheduling during the holidays?

My order tracking also says it’s not in production yet. It seems like your truck has to be “In Production” to receive your window sticker, even if it hasn’t been built yet.

Does anybody with a 1/14-1/18 build date have their window sticker? I have a build date of 1/16 and I don’t have it yet.

No dice yet on the original XLT, still says processing. Holding out for a change next week once things get back to speed after the holidays.
