I got a VIN number and build date!

I ordered on 10/16 and I am not scheduled yet. Another dealership customer that ordered in September has been scheduled and has a VIN assigned.

I went in to my dealer today to see about my vin but they don't have it yet. My order was put in 9/7 as a retail order but they put a request in to have mine shipped before their stock orders.

Got word from my Salemans\neighbor this morning that my Ranger has been scheduled for the week of jan. 7th. Normally ford will not schedule retail orders until ok-to-buy has been reached. No word on a VIN yet but I did ask him. Looks like Ford is very confident OKTB will be reached by Jan. I ordered my truck the day the order bank opened, something like aug. 14th.

I do not think VIN is necessarily and indicator of when it will be build. On the print out my dealer has his stock order has a vin of 5444 build week 12/31, mine is the week after with a vin of 3988.

My dealer let me know that my Ranger has been assigned a VIN number and a build date of January 14th, 2019. My truck will be roughly the 4,000th Ranger to roll off the assembly line, based off my VIN number.

How did you get a build date if the order is still in processing? Did the dealer just tell you January 14th? I got my VIN today, but I wasn't given an expected build date.

The build date was on his weekly printout. You have a vin so the dealer does have a build week on his sheet.

My dealer told me January 14th. Where or how he got that date I don't know.

Retail orders won't be built until January 2019, and only after "Ok to Buy" has been achieved. If you got a VIN number and your order is a retail order, then expect your build week to be after January 7th at the earliest.
