So in theory at 33% increase from 400 a day it becomes 532 which is roughly 2660 a week and 10640 a month, IN THEORY? On top of what they have already built and shipped and my last 5 digits are 24147 so March might still be realistic as long as the train cars are available. Anyways keeping fingers crossed.
@Felipe Riccio has the highest VIN (30603) with the same build date as you (March 11th). If your Ranger is actually built the week of March 11th, by your own math his won't realistically be built until the week of March 25th.

So if production ends on June 1st, and average production is 10,640 a month, I would be surprised if Ford cracks 70K units for the 2019 Model Year.

Our trucks are built that's the crazy part! They just need to get shipped.

Does EVERY number in the last 6 of the VIN equate to a built vehicle? When I look at how the VINs were assigned, they seem somewhat random - I'm sure there is some pattern, but I see people who ordered their vehicle after me get a number before mine. And I know my order was approved shortly after I ordered it. I'm wondering if some of the numbers got "voided" (for lack of a better term).

The whole scheduling things seems awfully mixed up. Coupled with extremely poor reporting on current status it makes for a very frustrating experience.

I agree it's very frustrating.

Especially since my Ranger has already been released for shipping 7 days ago and hasn't moved at all, and here goes @j0shm1lls flaunting his Ranger with a November order date LOL

woah woah woah :p I'm not flaunting, just displaying it ostentatiously. My dealer is off today (how dare he take a day off), so I doubt I'll hear anything. As of 5:30pm last night, the truck was still listed as sitting on the train and hadn't been released to the trucking company yet. He couldn't call them to "mark it hot" until its off the train.

My understanding as explained by my dealer is that the VIN is fully created when it is assigned to the plant. The last 6 digits which for the Ranger is a A##### is the numerical count of vehicles assigned to the plant and once it goes past 99999 the A becomes a B so B00001 would be number 100,000 from the plant. that was the explanation given to me by my dealer. So mine would be the (24,147) 2019 Ranger built if that is true.
I have a print out from my dealer and Ranger 1FTER4EHXKLA12109 is expected in any day so at least that many have been built and shipped.

Well get this, my salesman is retiring at the end of the month and I told him he couldn't retire until my Ranger came in on the 6th. He said "the hell I can't", he'd be gone and my Ranger will get here when it gets here. He's been sales manager for over 14 years and even longer in the car business and I wish him the best, he knows how excited I am to be getting one and he loves giving me a hard time about my enthusiasm and constant need for updates. I know the dealership will take care of me, but it's oh so fun to pester him till he retires.

I don't think it necessarily means ALL numbers before one produced have been produced. From seeing the scheduling, it seems like some have been delayed (STC, SuperCabs) - so some later VINs actually are getting produced BEFORE earlier VINs.

Or is my thinking wrong?

Continuing, as explained by my dealer once the vehicle has been built in the manufacture's ordering system the VIN is built by the computer system and submitted to the factory which in turn signals the entire automated logistic supply chain of what components are needed and on what date so they all come together in one seamless blend/build date. Also it is possible for a much higher VIN to be moved up in the system and built earier depending on the priority assigned based off of a bunch of different factors. If the factory and supply chain eventually become a well oiled machine then in theory the plant could get to between 500-600 a day which would be a pretty good build rate.

No your thinking is correct, the VIN is produced by the computer and all components are gathered based off of the VIN, but apparently the supply chain for some components has caused some of the lower VINs to be delayed so it is a situation where we cannot determine the rhyme or reason since we do not have the visibility on the supply chain. Having the ability to track things is both a blessing and a damn curse at the same time.

I am just hoping that the speed bumps get ironed out so the factory can reach capacity. Maybe the Ranger can knock the Taco off of the #1 spot in the midsize world.

VINs are assigned as the vehicle gets scheduled. Vehicles are not produced in VIN order tho.

@Geoff they sure are not, only in the computer, the factory builds according to what hey have the lines setup for that day. Not to mention that I have learned they factory has a whole slew of subassembly sections that preproduce things like the body, and chassis so there is no way to really figure out what is coming next...well unless you are one the plant supervisors that have access to that knowledge. Just glad I am not the puppet master trying to run an assembly plant! :like:

That all makes sense, and yes, tracking can be a curse at times.... But Ford really should be able to better communication of what is going on. It is one thing to have delays, it is completely another thing to be unable to tell people WHY it is delayed or have ZERO idea of WHEN something will happen. Whether you have an online tracker or not, that is unforgivable, IMO.
