SO... I'm at the store & walking thru the parking lot I see I got a flat tire... Great....

I use my own floor jacks & wood blocks when I do a normal tire rotation in the driveway but now....

I'm stuck using the OE roadside/emergency scissor-jack!

I don't have a sticker or card showing where to correctly place & lift using this scissor-jack!

I tried google duckduckgo & found nothing when it comes to emergency/roadside!

Can some post any pics or videos where I'm supposed to lift with this scissor-jack?

Thanks!

You should download the owner's manual if you don't have a printed version.

I will add, factory jack pretty much sucks. As do most of them. I’m like the OP, tire rotations at home involve the floor jack. Yep, I’m spoiled.

When I am retired and dragging a camper around I think I’m going to invest in a decent bottle jack to take on my travels.

I’ve actually used the OE scissor jack more often than not. Before I recently bought a bigger shop style jack, that was the only thing I had that would reach high enough to get the tires off the ground. That and cut piece of 4x4 wood was my go to lol

While the scissors jack is not great but it is light years ahead of the bumper jacks that I grew up with. A bottle jack is a good alternative but will not always fit under a vehicle with a flat tire, not even under my old 74 F100, at least the scissors jack gets low enough to fit under our flat tire trucks.

Totally agree. Why I’ll be carrying both. Would definitely be times a bottle jack won’t work. But when it does, better than a scissor.

I simply carry a 8 ton bottle jack, Safe Jack lift pad, and a few one inch "lego block" trailer levelers to prevent jack from sinking on ground With the Safe Jack I just use the frame rail nearest the tire I need to raise. Always plenty of room under frame rails for a bottle jack....and it doubles as a jack for the travel trailer if needed.
Oh, reason for a 8 ton jack.....not much bigger than a 4 or 6 and only costs a few $$ more than the smaller ones.

What about a small, aluminum floor jack? Mine works well. Good luck from an 82 year old experienced, retired guy!?. Retirement is good, so far!

I used the scissor jack recently, and the manual wasn't very helpful identifying the placement, so used a 2x4 block and put the jack on the frame.

I had a old 'professional' floor jack that my brother found in the middle of the road, and it lived in my garage for 25 years. When I went to use it last time, the seals had gone bad and it wouldn't lift the truck up, hence the reason I used the scissor jack.

Guess I'll look for a replacement floor style jack, eventually.

I need to look at that option. For some reason just hadn’t been on my radar. But I like it! Appreciate the heads up.

And wishing you many more years of happy retirement!

As I learned the hard way with my old truck, if you have a lift and bigger tires the factory jack might not go high enough, so keep a 4x4 block of wood in it.
