When I did my dash cam in my '19 Ranger I just tucked the wire right behind the A pillar and it was fine. I didn't want to mess with taking it off and having the air bag go off. lol I used the ODB port for power (thinkware dash cam) and ran the wire straight down then tucked it into the door rubber moulding and under the dash. Going to the rear cam I popped off the plastic sill plate with a pry tool and tucked the rear cam wire under it, ran it up the B pillar to the back of the truck.

I've done the same thing.

Hey Ron, long time no see! Hope all's been well with you and your Ranger. :)
The Ranger has done better than me. It's still going strong with 57.000+ miles while I required a complete knee replacement about 3 months ago. Recovery is coming along so hope to soon be in as good a shape as the truck. Thanks for asking.

Sorry to hear about your knee replacement. Hopefully you're on the upside and will be good as new soon. Well, as good as we all can be at our age. lol

I was concerned about breaking the A-pillar trim when I removed it to hardwire my Cobra dash cam. It actually removes pretty easily. You just have to pry it a little at the top to un-pop the 1st clip. Then you can slide a finger in the top and pull it horizontally towards you. The other clips will release without much effort. To put it back,,, just line it up and press. It will snap back into place. Then just pound it a few times with the palm of you hand to make sure all the clips are secure.

* I've never taken it all the way off. I've just loosened it enough to get the wires hidden behind it.

Wouldn't want to be hit by that in the event of a collision, better than hitting the windscreen I guess!

You just pull it down. Start at the top and pull at an angle between the windshield and door. There are plastic retention clips but it does just pull out.
