It seems like there's enough of us old (er) folks here so I thought it would be a fun thread to start. There were so many things from back when we were young that just aren't around anymore or have significantly changed. I'll merge all the earlier posts to this thread and we can have our own little area for all us Boomers! ?

That's almost as ancient as one of these. o_O:oops:

Those were the days when you had to keep a quarter in your wallet for emergencies.
A quarter....damn, I am old. I remember when it was a dime, and before that a nickle !!!
Bottle of Coke from a machine was a dime, pack of smokes were 20 cents. Gas was 19 cents a gallon, and I made .75 cents an hour pumping gas after school. Made $2.00 for mowing a lawn on weekends, and made $10.00 a week from a paper route.

I remember the dimes. My mom would put them in my Tom Mchan loafers in the penny slot areas so I wouldn't loose them. Gas was up to 26 cents a gallon when I got my license and first car.

I vaguely remember it being a dime and while I didn't have Tom Mchan loafers I did have a pair of really cool PF Flyers. :giggle:

If you remember Tom McCann then do you remember the Boots they came out with, with the Tiger Stripes inside to coincide with the Pontiac GTO "Tiger" ? Came out in 64 or 65, of course I had a pair !!!
Remember "Chicken Man, he's everywhere he's everywhere"

We were poor and could only afford Keds. I always wanted PF flyers so I could be a fat kid that could run fast and jump high. The shoemaker would stretch my Tom Mchan loafers and put new soles on them to make them last a couple years but you couldn't hide flood pants the second year.

if you had Keds your weren't that poor....

hell, when I was a kid , all we got were Endicott Johnson sneeks at the outlet store.... EJ rejects lasted a year if you went easy on 'em. vents on the sides were handy if you wanted to rinse your feet in a puddle

Don't forget Red Ball Jets. I wore PF Flyers mostly when my mom forced me to wear shoes. I could walk across gravel with out wincing, a lot different now. By the way, you can still get PF Flyers as that is what I wear in the summer time now, my wife hates them.

My s
Someone needs some detailing lessons. lol ?
My sister was spoiled and got Buster Brown shoes. I got stuck detailing them. I could do a great spit shine on patent leather. Back to the original topic. And I did nothing to my ranger today.
