First off I want to thank everyone for the contributions made to this site. It's really great to have a place to get answers to questions and find new ways to spend more and more money on our Rangers.

Is there any downside to covering the various holes found along the frame inside the rear wheel well with plastic end caps like I've done in the picture below?

I've purchased cover/plugs such as these to cover the various holes.

Nice, more stuff to buy lol

These pop into the frame, right? Seems like a good idea

Some of them I had to wrap a few times with electrical tape to keep from moving around. The larger cover will fit if you cut the ribs off.

I didn't like the look of all the open holes, so this seemed to be a fairly cheap way to cover them.

Good idea! I drive on gravel / dirt roads a lot and I have gravel inside those cross tubes. I think I should steal your idea.

I have them. Like the look and have had no problems with them.

Any idea what the diameter of the holes on either side of the front cross member behind the front wheel?

My only concern about sealing these is whatever moisture is in there, will stay in there.....and rust. If you would clean it out, with a rod and a rag (like cleaning a gun), they apply some type of rust preventative, then seal it with the caps, it might be ok. Just slapping some caps on it could be the beginning of a nightmare. With out the caps, it can breathe. IMO.

Have to agree with OP. Block these off might actually increase rusting. Treating it before you do so would be wise.

I’m hoping at some point someone comes out with full liner inserts for these trucks. Previous versions of Rangers had them and they did the job. This felt stuff isn’t going to cut it 5 to 10 years from now.
