Rear Driver's Side Door Doesn't Close Flush

If anyone was wondering if new trucks are still being produced with these wonky doors I can confirm. Purchased a brand new 2021 Velocity Blue XLT crew cab FX2 on May 31st. Noticed last weekend my drivers side front door was sticking out like it wasn’t closed all the way. Passenger side was lined up fine.

Called the dealer where I bought it (very small Ford dealer) and they were booked up until June 25th. Called a dealer one county east of me and they aren’t even taking appointments. Finally called a dealer in Atlanta that could get it in last Tuesday.

They had to send Ford pictures of the door and how bad it was protruding. Ford ok’d repair by the dealers body shop. It’s been there since Wednesday. Called the body shop to get an update yesterday. They said they couldn’t get it lined up and we’re ordering a whole new door. Have no idea how long it’ll take.

So as of now the body shop has had possession of the truck almost as long as I have. 492 miles in and not exactly thrilled. Oh, and no loaner car so I’m currently relying on my 20 year old son to take me to work in the morning and my wife to pick me up in the evening. So that’s great.

That vehicle should have never left the plant until it was fixed....The QC inspectors at MAP must be hung over....Way too many quality issues.

I received a letter today in reply to the letter I wrote Ford customer service about the driver side rear door lower right area not fitting flush. It was worded like a basic form letter. Did include a short paragraph saying something to the effect this person (who wrote the reply letter) was not a technician and I should contact a Ford dealer.

Happy to report that I got my truck back today. The dealership’s body shop realigned the door and now it sits perfectly flush like it should. Took 10 days from drop off to pick up but it was worth it.

Did they say what they did to fix it? Was it the hinge points or the strike plate adjustment??

You know honestly I don’t know. I do know they took both doors off and the service manager told me they had to in order to get them both aligned and seated properly. My passenger side was perfect from day one, only my drivers side was wonky and now both sides look perfect.

Did they say what they did to fix it? Was it the hinge points or the strike plate adjustment??

So at least they didn't have to order a new door?? Interesting that they took the passenger side door off too.... (scratching head).
