No kidding.
I'll look into that.
My Ranger is parked next to my firewood stackers (about 4 cord).
I have several mouse traps in the wood, which catch a couple of the rodents every week.
I figured that keeps them out of my vehicles.

But, if I can further deter the critters , AND smell pretty, WELL!
That's worth trying.
We'll see.
If you have that many you should watch this video. Crazy...and easier than trying to catch it in your window like Coby did!

Some of the pics shared... :puke::eek:

Oh, rodents...my little story.

Came out the day after picking my brand new Lariat up and saw some foam on the driveway. Thought nothing of it...went about my business. 2 days, 3 days and I'm thinking WTF and went searching. A Rat had gone up into Engine bay and started feasting on the Engine cover the very one that many XL & XLT owners are so mad they didn't get.

Yes I forgot to mention I spray peppermint oil also around the truck, usually on a weekly basis, and I have ramik green poison around the perimeter of the garage my truck is stored in.

WHAT?
How'd you catch it in your window, without noticing?
I think you're messing with us.
I had the windows cracked and didn't drive for a few days. I guess it tried to get out and accidentally hung itself.

Not sure how it got in. I figured it jumped in while I was hunting as I often leave the doors open for several minutes while putting gear on and off.

Oh, OK.
Peppermint works as long as you also put toxic waste 'green poison' around the garage.
Got it.

I can assure you if my wife walked up and found the Rat in the window, in the cab or anywhere close to her SUV she would have a new SUV within hours. Of course the old one would be towed away so there would be no contact made with the old vehicle. I also installed a mesh to block access to my air intake I have found mice and babies in mine before.

Oh and Phil just a funny if you see this I was in GV last week to the Pima Mine on business and saw a white ranger and waived frantically from my rental car. If that was you great if not someone in a white Ranger is confused as to who I was.

Hi Mel,

Probably not me. I do not get up to Pima Mine very often. Ranger was in the garage all last week as wife wants me to drive her Nautilus most of the time.

You need an outdoor cat. Or two. They will clear a kill zone around house. Best rat protection. Predators.

Since rats love electrical wires and other plastics, I wonder why they don't put a bitter flavor compound in that stuff to keep them from chewing on it.

Is it common for there to be unplugged holes big enough for rats to get into the cabin of the truck? About a week ago I found a bunch of rat crap in the jockey box. I set a trap inside the truck caught a huge freaking rat! This has never happened to any of our other cars.

Hey, Ian, all kidding aside, I am starting to wonder if there are any rats or mice in my garage that might be thinking of my Ranger as their "dream home." What kind of trap did you use? I found something similar-looking on Amazon.com, described below. Is this it? I just want to "catch and release," not crush or poison the little critters.

We live in the city between two busy roads. Cats would be road kill.

This is the trap we got. It took a few days to catch the rat. I think they have to get used to it before they will go inside.
