What are the 5 Subaru Love Promises?

d9GcTDKSl9I8-7pt4R2mDbs0SA0k1QQU2yN-YdwhugO1A-YQ&s.jpg

These different causes are represented by the Subaru Loves branding: Subaru Loves Pets, Subaru Loves the Earth, Subaru Loves Learning, Subaru Loves to Help, and Subaru Loves to Care. Jun 2, 2021

How could one not like (love Subaru) , Their growth in recent years has been impressive and a significant part of that I'd attribute to effective marketing - pet loving, green loving, outdoor and granola loving, the perfect car for lesbians, IIHS safety, etc.
What is any of this beyond marketing designed to manipulate you?

Recently I posted up about a camping trip I took up on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona. It had snowed prior to us getting there. We camped for the weekend and then on the way out the mud / slush / snow / ice was deep and plentiful on the red clay roads. My mods - BFG tires, a Ham Radio, and American Flag Stickers. That's it.

We ran into a guy that was turning around and heading out after getting himself unstuck for the second time. He was in a nice Subaru with more aggressive than stock tires but not quite BFG territory. He had come down from Colorado to scout for Elk Hunting. Said he took the Soobie to save on gas but didn't know it was "this bad out here." His whole Elk scouting trip from Colorado to Arizona was shit-canned because he left his hunting rig at home and took an Outback.

The Ranger drove through it like it was just another trip to the grocery store. I'm sure the Outback makes good sense for city dwellers where it snows on paved roads or suburban gravel driveway people but it is not comparable with a truck or jeep or jeep truck gladiator or bronco. Not enough ground clearance.

Took my neighbor’s Outback up to Saddleback in OC. Did great, especially over some mean moguls.

Dude probably didn't know enough to turn off the traction control. That shit can and will bury you in a Subaru when there is deep snow. I had Geolander G015s on my last Forester in a slightly larger than stock size with a manual trans. It would go just about any where I would consider taking my ranger in stock form. Having a much tighter turn radius didn't hurt. My biggest concern always was the oil pan they sit pretty low on a Subaru.

The most capable Subaru I ever had was an 04 Forester XT 5 speed. 4.44 gears, limited slip, and a turbo made that thing unstoppable.

Isn’t that the literal purpose of marketing? To manipulate people?
Yes, which is why it's disappointing to see people repeating it instead of participating in a fact-based discussion.

Believe it or not, but the mechanical abilities of vehicles can be quantified. Even when they run on the power of love.

Actually, I came from having a subi outback (2015). The problem with the newer outbacks is simple...the computer doesn't let the wheels slip AT ALL. Even when you try and shut down the traction control. I improved the tire size and got some AT's on it...and then started researching because I too got stuck in the snow...and my wheels DIDN'T want to spin...had the gas pedal to the floor and it just would 'grown'. Learned that some even blew out the trans from doing this. After that - I started researching and had the 'excuse' to get myself the Ranger.

The outback is great for mileage but terrible for power and true off - road. There are many vids (utube) that show this...so getting better tires/rims/traction associated does NOTHING. Literally. The older gen outbacks are MORE capable. I also think the brand new ones may be...but again...sold mine...got out of that...no more...don't really care too much. lol
