Here is Ford's conundrum. Ex CEO Jim Hackett reduced and purged Ford Motor Company automotive inventory of low cost/profit sedans (except for the Ford Mustang and SUVs) Now they realize not everybody is willing to "pay up" for their quality, expensive F-xxx series trucks and even the Ranger. Hence, the very small Ford Maverick Truck was born and is now manufactured south of the border to reduce cost and maybe quality.
Not to mention the new tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. By moving production, corporations can skirt those taxes. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come..

I think it will be more akin to knock-downs where they will build them to 50-70% and then complete them here.

Build a plant in Texas maybe? :D

Texas needs to digest the Tesla Cybertruck (along with Elon Musk) first and get some more reliable electricity in their grid system. Both the Cybertruck and Texas utility grid suffers greatly in a cold snap😄

Ford is gonna sell quite a few of these. The F-150 is huge now, and the Ranger is basically the size of a mid-00s F-150 which is still big for some folks. I can see the Maverick being used a lot in fleets and for the suburbanite who doesn't need something as big/expensive as a Ranger/F-150.

I think that is another untapped market. Retired folk who dont want the "monster" size truck of a F 150 but would like a truck to haul stuff here and there.. go to flea markets... etc..

that's me for sure. rack on top for the kayak, hitch for towing my dinghy, and only 2 doors. because, what do I need 4 doors for? I wish these rangers were just a bit smaller. loose 2" height and width then the weight of the truck would be below 4000lbs

I think it would be better if it was just a 2 seater.
BMW did this with the X1... Intentionally went and marketed their vehicle as the smallest in its class.
There is something to be said for all this. Small is beautiful.

Now if the lawyers wouldn't have killed the bed mounted seats, then we would really have something.

Dude, I never gave a sermon, I quoted someone else . You're the racist
Thank you Reverend Ranger Pride but you need to add "fire and brimstone" to your sermons.
Never argue with a fellow Newfie Canadian - you will lose every time. Such a tool.

lay down the bottle of screech. maybe even dump the rest down the drain. You've had enough this weekend.
BTW, I'm not a "fellow Newfie Canadian" as you call it. Nor am I a preacher, a reverend or anything of the like. I don't give sermons, I don't give lectures, i simply call out BS. And unfortunately since there's so much here, it keeps me busy.
Opinionated asshole is more appropriate, and I don't lose.

More people need to learn to laugh at themselves and not take everything so serious. I have Polish in me but enjoy a good Polish joke as much as anybody. To many snowflakes are a major reason out country is in serious trouble.

Done ranting. I do think Ford will do well with the Maverick. I know lots of people looking for a smaller original Ranger sized truck.
Yep, but some aren't happy unless they find something to be offended at 24/7.

The maverick would be better for what I do....especially if it's cheaper an gets better MPG's. If the MPG's are where a crossover SUV is they will sell since gas is creeping back up. I like the look an off road ability of the ranger even if I don't do any real off roading.
It better not have a dampened tailgate……
