COLD WEATHER PROBLEM.
Diagnosis, heavy ice build up on the inside of the intake manifold / plenum assembly due to the extreme cold. The ice actually cracked the intake and split it open:shock:. Said chunk of ice then slammed into throttle body, stalling truck and damaging throttle body. Everything went into Limp mode, including the TECU( limited to 1st & 2nd gears, 1400RPM max ).
There is an updated intake(for this cold climate issue), with new PCV lines and oil separator line coming from the USA. Told aprox 1 week down for parts.
I'm happy its not anything more serious, and I can make due without the truck for a week.
Did they explain why it was trying to move when it wasn't even in gear?

Ford has their North American Cold Climate testing facility in Thompson Manitoba. Our temps have been down to -45C already this winter (and that's not including the wind chill).
Hi Mike,

Ford used to have it in Bimidji Minnesota, but with climate change we had to move North to Thompson.... I never was in Thompson, but was told the reason for Thompson was that was were the rail line ended for shipping prototype trucks.... I am glad I experienced up to -55° a few times...but never again! Workng outside in those temps with wrenches frozen to your hands was quite an experience the first time.. quite a learning curve to live in such cold temps....

Best,
Phil

It will almost be 0° C here tomorrow... And yes I'll be using remote start because that is cold here. You guys can keep that -40 crap.

It managed to get a bit below 0 a few days ago and everyone panicked. Raining just before it did that didn't help.

I worked the logging industry in the winter, nothing like having your wife help unzip your jacket because the zipper was frozen shut from your sweat all day, not to mention gloves too.. Fun youngster times!!

If I knew I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself?

Yeah, that 2 deg C change in average temp probably really messed up there testing methodology and procedures.

Phil, you are correct - Rail line ends at Thompson. GM also has their Cold Test center up there. Working in the cold is one thing, you can dress and plan for that, the crazy wind is what's really dangerous. -40C with a 50km wind suddenly makes it like -63C  Thats when I don't work outside anymore.
