Dealer trying to get me to buy the ceramic coating for my new Ranger (picking it up tomorrow) - never heard of it. It's called Sentinel. The cost is $1100 for coating the paint and apparently the interior of the truck which sounds weird. Anyone hear of this before and is it worth $1100?

Run! You can get a much better ceramic coating job done privately for less than the dealer. There are so many ceramic coatings out there now that you can even DYI a good ceramic job if you like detailing.

Sounds a lot like the Exogloss stuff my dealer tried to sell. I second what @AzScorpion says, although around me to get a detailer to do paint correction and then ceramic coat (with interior detailing) this time of year is that same price but it's a much better product and process.

Thanks guys - sales guy sprung this on me at the last second and made it seem like he needed an answer pronto to be able to get it done for delivery tomorrow. I think I am gonna pass on it.

Avoid any dealer applied protection. It’s usually garbage and a huge rip off. $1100 can get you a full multi stage paint correction and a real ceramic coating at a real detail shop. The crap the dealer “applies” is just a spray on application with no paint correction.

The fact that he could have it done by tomorrow is a red flag.

Yeah my detailer needs it for two days to do a full decontamination, correction, and ceramic. I'm dropping it off tonight actually.
