I've read many threads on this but no solution. My 21 ranger lariat 4x4 is flat towed behind our motorhome.
On a recent trip, when driving the ranger, the left dash screen showed "pre collision warning unavailable. " just before that it said "adaptive cruise not available" or something like that. The "cruise" thing went away but the pre collision remains.
I've cleaned camera and sensor areas. Checked resting battery voltage and got 12.6v.
Now some more back story. After towing it more than 1500 miles, occasionally driving it, at one stop, the doors wouldn't unlock with fob. I used the key. Truck wouldn't start. Like no battery. No lights, no sound. (Yes, ive confirmed the charge wire is active on 7 pin plug)
I jump started it from motorhome and drove to walmart for a battery charger. After jumping it, and a 4 mile drive to walmart the battery showed 12. 6 v. I put it on charge overnight anyway. Towed it home another 700 miles and it started right up, but the pre collision light never left. I've disconnected the battery to try a forced reset. No good.
And the stranger thing is, the pre collision thing showed up before the dead truck issue.
Battery is 5 years old. Truck has 34000 miles.
Any thoughts on a possible fix?
