I've read many threads on this but no solution. My 21 ranger lariat 4x4 is flat towed behind our motorhome.
On a recent trip, when driving the ranger, the left dash screen showed "pre collision warning unavailable. " just before that it said "adaptive cruise not available" or something like that. The "cruise" thing went away but the pre collision remains.
I've cleaned camera and sensor areas. Checked resting battery voltage and got 12.6v.
Now some more back story. After towing it more than 1500 miles, occasionally driving it, at one stop, the doors wouldn't unlock with fob. I used the key. Truck wouldn't start. Like no battery. No lights, no sound. (Yes, ive confirmed the charge wire is active on 7 pin plug)
I jump started it from motorhome and drove to walmart for a battery charger. After jumping it, and a 4 mile drive to walmart the battery showed 12. 6 v. I put it on charge overnight anyway. Towed it home another 700 miles and it started right up, but the pre collision light never left. I've disconnected the battery to try a forced reset. No good.
And the stranger thing is, the pre collision thing showed up before the dead truck issue.
Battery is 5 years old. Truck has 34000 miles.
Any thoughts on a possible fix?

Scan for DTC codes. If your CCM (cruise control module) mounted in the bumper, has been bumped, it might be out of alignment. It mounts with several snap-in studs. They can be snapped back in place if dislodged. The scan codes should help pinpoint the issue.

Ill try to scan today if I can find my seldom needed scanner, but i did find the ccm loose on one side, snapped it back in place. Thanks.

If you snapped it back in place, your issue may be fixed.

If it persists, check the wire harness connection up by the brake fluid reservoir for poor connection or wire damage.

Rodents chewed mine up and I was getting the same alert message.

Hopefully, you’ve already solved the issue.

Just curious, what is your towing setup on the front of the Ranger look like?? I have a front tow hitch on the front of my Lariat and often get that message (or a related one) as it can't see around the hitch tongue. On first start it is all good for 20 or 30 miles and then errors out or if I stop and turn the truck off, when restarted it will immediately error out.

I guessing it's something like this so probably not related...

Yes, when removed all is clear. If I leave the brackets in place, the park sensors will detect them and go wonky.

Well, I wish. No change. Drove ut a few miles but still got message. My obd scan showed no errors. My android ford app shows it.

So I soaped it all down good and pressure washed the whole truck. (Towing it leaves an oily film on the front, from the rear diesel I guess)
Warning still on. I have the battery disconnected right now to try that yet again.
Would like to remove the radar cover to clean any lens that may be behind it. Thinking oily residue got to it since the cover was unlatched on one side. Can't figure out how to remove that cover. Would lime to remove camera cover on windshield to clean behind it also.

Push in hard on all four corners of the CCM to make sure all snap-in supports are fully seated. Use Forscan to scan for codes. Many scanners only read powertrain DTC codes.

I think I need a better scanner. Only have a little cheap think from working on a 06 jeep liberty I used to have. Maybe time to order Forscan. I've been checking fuses too. Read where brake issue may cause this error to pop-up. Since I tow the truck and have a brake system in it that connects to the motorhome, just a chance maybe some screw up there.
About to schedule a date with local ford dealer. Time for oil and tire rotation any way.

And.... just noticed that cruise control will not turn on either. Front radar cover is on tight.

Mine has that too. It is a plastic piece, not a wire.

Since your CCM was loose, I still think you have an alignment issue with it or it is still not fully seated. I had the same issue with mine being bumped out of place and it took considerable force to reseat the module and its mounting plate.
