I remember number 6...+ or - I don't know...
+ lenses are magnifiers........if you put the glasses on and they magnified your eyes bigger than the rest of your face they were a + lens. My guess would be - lens.......near-sighted......I am a -5.50 and nothin happenin without my glasses.....including getting up at night.....blurry as all get out!

Yup...I was very near sighted at -6...loose my glasses and I probably qualify as legally blind...after Lasik, my eyes were great but are now at -1.5...within the past year, my left eye has deteriorated to -2.75 and my Optometrist has determined that I have back side Cataract and within a few years I would require surgery...ahhh the joys of getting old...

A backside cataract sounds like a PSC (Post Subcapsular).....forms on the back of the lens smack dab in the center. Makes nasty glare with lights.

Yeah, the difference will drive ya crazy! We tell our patients......when you're unhappy with your vision and you can't perform your normal daily activity.....its time to remove them......don't wait on the Optom to say its time......you make that decision.

Hi Sid,

My Secretary had RK...she was so thrilled...and then her vision deteriorated to the point where she could not do her job.. I was saddened with her departure, but understood...to this date she has not recovered to any form of life other than being vision imparied..... Cannot drive...

Best,
Phil

As Phil said. Lasik is much better than the old RK. RK, Lasik, PRK, custom epilation do one thing......flatten the cornea so light travels parallel. The old RK had 'T' cuts......very unpredictable outcomes. Had many school teachers here back in the 90s had RK because BC/BS paid for it.....many were getting disability after due to poor vision and instability.
