How essential are height/geometry adjusted UCA's post 2" (maybe 2.5") leveling?

Have x4 5100's en route and looking to maintain a comfortable and capable ride.

I don't offroad and I lightly tow a 16' skiff. This truck will turn to rust underneath me if I have my way. Are they essential? If so, who do you all recommend for light to, at most, medium duty use?

thanks y'all ?

Hey Brent - as far as we’ve been able to determine on here so far, 2” to 2-1/2” poses no real issues other than a wheel alignment and headlight adjustment. Even 3” seems okay but anything beyond that and it’s time for UCA changes and possibly a diff drop.

Those 5100s will be a nice upgrade and you should notice the difference right away.

Maybe stick with 2” if you do the occasional towing or hauling.

Here is my Ranger with the 5100s set at 2.5”. I tow a smaller 16’ aluminum boat and it has very little squat on the truck.

From what I do know you should be fine for the most part. That said I would recommend not going more than 2 inches.of level. Why you ask? Well you do have a truck and I know there are times you will load the bed and tow from time to time. This will help prevent you from the lovely Carolina Dog Squat when loaded.

Hey thanks for the quick response! Would you suspect there be a safety issue should I keep the stock UCAs? Or am I simply limiting the bottom end of my down travel?

I put my son and soon-to-be wife in here often enough. Safety is paramount

Thanks for the visual. There is some squat and my skiff is a 95 Hewes redfisher which I suspect weighs a bit more than your so maybe best I stick with a 2" rise? Opinion?

I'm thinking the same. Two inches it's likely going to be the way I go

Precious cargo indeed. You shouldn’t be too worried about safety being impacted with a 2” or 2-1/2” level. The alignment can easily be brought within Ford specs after the level. When my truck was at 2-1/2”, it was not an issue and when I swapped the level kit for Fox suspension set at 2”, it was no problem.
