How is an extended warranty purchased going to help a supply chain shortage?
Let see, if by change they put a part that was rushed into production just to meet sales need, and bypass the quality of the part. Good chance it will fail after the factory warranty period. Or like I heard many of times, " let the vehicle go, we will fix it in warranty."

I will admit most parts used to be more robust, but heavy and over engineered. The latest manufacturing appears to be cheap, very light weight, and plasticy. But it works!
As long as it keeps on working, I have no problem with that.

This is a myth....simply not part of any auto manufacturer's strategy.
Not apples to apples but seems Ford had an interesting strategy with respect to the Pinto, just to dredge up the past.
