Looking awesome man. You running plastidip on your rockers? It looks really good... Looks better than plastidip which is why I am curious haha. I did it on mine and it came out alright.

I think some posts back he says he had them wrapped.

The trick to plastidip since it's self leveling is getting it on super fat and wet. It comes out best when the layers are put on as absolutely wet as one can manage, JUST before it starts to run. Depending on the relative heat and humidity it can be a bear to get a large section done fast enough (with cans) so it's even and dries without tiger striping. Large sections should be done with one of their sprayers for best results.

Yeah I was about to remove my plastidip and wrap them. Couldn't stomach doing bedliner yet lol. I have been using plastidip on my trucks for years but you are right about getting it thick. Its hard up where I live because it is so damn cold that the line before it starts to run is very thin hah....

A quality bedliner is probably the best option, but yeah i feel you lol. The permanence of its application im sure is a bit daunting on a brand new vehicle, I should start mentally preparing myself for it NOW, as its something I should probably do when I get my truck.

Agreed. It is a shame the paint is so thin as my tires aren't even really oversized. Just a step up from stock. I wish I would have put the fender flares and nice mudflaps on right when I bought it to protect the paint. Bedliner is certainly in my future though lol

When we as a species figure out how to make paint harder than a rock we'll be in good shape lol.

well, we do know how to do that, we just can't make it safe for the environment and cheap at the same time.

I have a few more things to do to the Ranger before putting the (Pizza Cutter) 235 85 16's on.
But got them mounted and road force balanced.
But they are going to have to keep my Kayak company for a few more days.
Need to go out of town.

I await my FX4 order, will keep the Hankook ATMs until they fail me but I too am interested in pizza cutters. Unless those sizes are niche and therefore cost way more, I'd think I could achieve a 32 - 33" tire without lift (??, 33" possible with narrower tire?), while saving weight and increase MPGs due to weight and less rolling resistance, all the while increasing performance in snow.

Any consensus on narrow/tall AT sizes that fit stock FX4s, weigh less and yield better MPGs than their wider, perhaps shorter counterparts?

it seems like a few more tall skinny options are in 16 inch. but still not as many as the wide bloated ones lol. cooper and bfg are the common ones. i bet overseas this would not be the case. a lot of the rigs i see from Australia run the tall skinny

Hi Doug,

When I was selling my work at the top Gallery in Tucson, the Madaras Gallery, I could not keep up with demand. They proved quite popular, and Diana Madaras, the Artist and Gallery owner wishes I was back but the job of making items like wine stoppers, cheese knifes Pizza cutters and so on, but it became a 50 hour a week job...not fun in retirement... so in a way I was too successful but as the agreement was 50/50 split, I was working for just above minimum wage....So I quit. Diana still keeps me in the loop like the Lazy Susan fiasco that is another post. If you are ever at the Tucson Airport, you will see her displays...I made most of her frames display racking... She is quite an artist and she has said my wife is quite an artist too...high praise for a well know artist of the Southwest... Wish Margie would get back into the studio, but she is on break from painting....as I am from my work... I did just take a 9 quarter board, resaw it and make it into a cutting board for our kitchen. Just a bit of Turquoise inlay on the book matched halves...

Best,
Phil

well I just switched to Yokohama MT g003 in 255/85r16, they are listed at 33.2" diameter, and fit perfectly with the crash bars in place - stock steel wheels.

coming from 235/85 cooper ST maXX (which are just 5 lbs lighter)
The truck feels noticeably heavier and more truck-like - less nimble, but much smoother.

also the 33s look much better

I've made up my mind after watching a ton of videos and reading up on this topic.

I'm going with 255/80/17. I think too many people think wider is better, but our trucks are not that heavy and the only time wider is truly better is for mud bogs.
