The frame can VERY EASILY be pulled back into shape, just have the work done by a quality shop. Auto repair is a science now, and there is no reason a properly repaired vehicle should ever be considered less valuable.
I've heard this argument before, and especially when insurance was looking at totaling my vehicle. The idea that a vehicle has no loss of value that has structural frame damage and is then repaired by bending the frame back in place, or even cutting the frame and welding portions back on, is laughable. The vehicle didn't come like that from the factory, because it would obviously be inferior to a non-bent/re-straightened frame. Why then would the vehicle have the exact same value after having the frame tampered with?

If two identical vehicles are for sale, except one has a structural damage-flagged title, and the frame has been bent and then straightened...do you really consider that they'd still be sold for the exact same amount?

an insurance company thatpays for add ons, then lets you take them is an insurance company not making money.
bet that doesnt happen often now
This was about 9 yeaars ago and the car was totaled pretty bad. The truck that hit it, flipped it over. It was a hard crash by our home so we just dragged it into the garage. The appraiser looked it over there. I had a really good experience with USAA insurance over the years.

Sorry to see that happen to your truck even more sorry for the fact you were not even driving or around it.. That’s a hard hit I have been looking around on the net for salvage trucks with less damage then that and are totaled. The bad part no matter what insurance you have or they have the owner always loses out you may get a new truck but the new mortgage bill sucks.. I would bet the best thing that could happen would be a total lose and demand total cost back for be the truck right to the sticker plus any upgrades..

Because it is psychological, and people don‘t understand the work done in body repair by qualified technicians.
