It’s all up to their/your insurance company at this point as far as being totaled or repairable.

However I would definitely park my repaired or new truck somewhere else besides on the shoulder of that road!

You should hope and insist it gets totaled. You think replacement parts are easy to come by at this time? My defective drivers side rear axle is going on week 7 for my 2021 FX4 lariat sitting at the dealer. (Good news it should ship next week from Ford).

Your gonna be in a rental car for months and a wrecked vehicle is rarely as good as new. I once read just the blind spot sensor/tail light is $1200 alone.

I’m not hating on Ford, but parts are not easy to come by today for many reasons out of their control. The insurance company will cut you a check is what my crystal ball says.

If it were mine I'd hope for it to be a total loss. The damage you can't see is what makes it difficult to bring it back to near 100%. Just my opinion.

I worked in body shops for years as an advisor writing estimates. Every insurance company is a little different in how they handle repairs. A really good insurance company like USAA requires new OEM parts for the first two years of the vehicles life. They also consider anything over 60% of the value of the vehicle a total loss. It is going to be close. There is probably damage on the rear of the cab that you won't see until the bed comes off. The bed can be replaced if it needs to be, depends on if the floor is damaged too. The frame can VERY EASILY be pulled back into shape, just have the work done by a quality shop. Auto repair is a science now, and there is no reason a properly repaired vehicle should ever be considered less valuable. Look at shows like Graveyard Cars, and watch how much work they put into rebuilding a car and it becomes extremely valuable. If you are unsure about his insurance company, go through your own and let them subrogate back to his. Your insurance company is more invested in taking care of you.

So my truck was hit this weekend while I was not home. My neighbors were awesome and helped get all the info from the driver. Anyone who have an opinion on the condition of my truck with experience of an accident like this? I know it is just photos but trying to figure out of the truck is salvageable or totaled.

It was just sitting in front of my house when the driver got distracted and hit my truck late Saturday night. Looks like initial impact was the left rear fender/bumper. My truck got pushed up into the retaining wall too. Bed/tailgate are damaged but worried about the frame and left rear control arm. Any comments would be appreciated.

I hate to be on the negative side but unfortunately I think they are going to total it out. I just have a hard time believing the frame isn’t bent or twisted in some way

Make sure you include the value of all your upgrades you did too
You have to have discussed that with the insurance provider prior to the accident and had your premium adjusted accordingly. If you were paying the rate to insure OEM parts then that's all you get.

I've heard this argument before, and especially when insurance was looking at totaling my vehicle. The idea that a vehicle has no loss of value that has structural frame damage and is then repaired by bending the frame back in place, or even cutting the frame and welding portions back on, is laughable. The vehicle didn't come like that from the factory, because it would obviously be inferior to a non-bent/re-straightened frame. Why then would the vehicle have the exact same value after having the frame tampered with?

If two identical vehicles are for sale, except one has a structural damage-flagged title, and the frame has been bent and then straightened...do you really consider that they'd still be sold for the exact same amount?

Sorry to see that happen to your truck even more sorry for the fact you were not even driving or around it.. That’s a hard hit I have been looking around on the net for salvage trucks with less damage then that and are totaled. The bad part no matter what insurance you have or they have the owner always loses out you may get a new truck but the new mortgage bill sucks.. I would bet the best thing that could happen would be a total lose and demand total cost back for be the truck right to the sticker plus any upgrades..
