When my frame got damaged a couple months ago the at-fault guy's insurance wanted to do a full frame swap rather than total it out. Bodyshop estimated 3-6 months of time, mostly just waiting on parts. I have my insurance properly total it instead. On top of the wait time, there is the diminished...
I've heard this argument before, and especially when insurance was looking at totaling my vehicle. The idea that a vehicle has no loss of value that has structural frame damage and is then repaired by bending the frame back in place, or even cutting the frame and welding portions back on, is...
NO! I had no idea until I read your comment that Ford is now stripping new rangers of those! I found already that they also took out the forward sensors from the new models as well and only made it available in the highest tech packages.
It's all going to depend on the frame. If it's messed up, you're kind of screwed. Even if a bodyshop claims they can repair it, the value of the vehicle goes down the toilet with a structural damage flag on the title. I got rear-ended last month. Similar type of damage. Ended up being a total...
So I purchased these, but am likely to return them. I do not like the look of how they sit, and the amount they're raised without truly fitting the space. IMO they look very "add-on" ish and look cheap when seen from an angle.
I can just barely make out the name of the dealership in your photo. I saw their ads as well and was really impressed at their prices. only reason I didn't go through that dealership is that out of all the rangers they had, none were Supercab, except a few base XLs. Congrats on the great deal!
Bought my Ranger last weekend. Test drove both the Tacoma and Ranger back-to-back. It was no contest. the Ranger was just a much smoother ride, and felt much more comfortable for a highway commuter.
