Funny I posted this this morning. My APIM just completely failed with no warning. Can’t see anything, can’t tell what climate control is set to, truck doesn’t respond to any audio (source, track change) inputs on the steering wheel or center stack.

I do not drive the truck hard. It’s towed only loads within the GCWR rating and still has 70% tread left on all tires.

The off road it sees is also backcountry roads, not Moab or Jeep style competitions.

Frustrating…

This has happened to me and I reset it by holding the power button and “track forward” buttons at the same time for about 8 seconds until the system resets and it works fine. At least for now.

My center console screen went totally dark. Every now and then I could see the date and time, but couldn't power up to listen to radio or blue tooth. I had them test the battery first, since this happened once before and it was a battery issue. (it was replaced under factory warranty) Not this time though, battery was good. Since I have the base line XL, I have the Sync 1.0 or 1.1 I have 37K on it (2020XL, purchased it Feb 2020, mfd Nov 2019), so out of factory warranty. (I am very glad I had the foresight to purchase the ESP from the dealer when I got the vehicle.) So they had to replace some module and everything works now (except for the ASS, but I'm complaining at all about that - never cared for it). I have my beloved radio and blue tooth back. That would have cost me about $600K without the ESP - all I paid was $100 deductible.

This is the first vehicle I bought a factory extended warranty for. My guess, is with the mileage I put (about 18,000 per year) plus the history on it (I’m the original owner) it wouldn’t hurt to have Ford Protect.

I will probably run out of mileage before the 10 years is up, but the price ($6400) made sense as it’s about the cost of one major repair. So an engine swap, trans repair, or a bunch of small items (like backup camera, APIM, radar sensors, or HVAC blend door) could easily add up to the price of the warranty.

We will see…right now Ford is not winning on the factory warranty and I barely use the truck like a “truck”…it’s more a leisure vehicle.
Wow that's an expensive as hell warranty. Check out Grainger and maybe get most of your money back.

$1,860 for an 8 year 100,000 mile, for example:

Sorry to hear about your troubles. My 2020 xlt 4x2 ranger had 40k when i traded for my 2022 Xlt fx2. now i have 33k. Driven 73k total in a ranger. Only complaint is the bed bends super super easy. Dings and scratches really really easy.
Dont know what to tell you.

$600,000 for "some module"? Hell, I'll rip mine out and sell it for $100k.

That’s odd Grainger was the first place I looked and they wanted over $6,500 for a warranty.

I got mine for $6,400 flat for the 10 year / 175k warranty.

Considering my 1 year and a few month old truck has 22k miles, it’s going to be out of mileage before the years run out!

And unfortunately, a new front end sound just came up when steering. Sounds like end links or tie rods. But never does it going straight. Ugh…

I don’t even drive this thing hard, after 22k my fronts and rears have maybe 1/32 less tread wear if that!

Oh I didn't know it was 175K that is a hell of a warranty.

It sounds like you might have a lemon. That's too many problems for a Ranger.

Wow ! That's way too much crap going wrong. I'm going to agree with the "lemon" comment by MountainGoat. Reminds me of a POS (Frontier NISMO) I owned many years ago.

My '23 Tremor turned 1 last month. Put @19K miles on it in that time. No issues. Zero. Kind of crazy to think that two vehicles can roll off the same line yet have such a different ownership experience.

Best of luck with it OP.

Especially with the off road package, you’d think they’ve beefed up the suspension components.

I’ve literally done more off road in a Camry (cumulatively, when going to visit family and friends that had bought cabin homes).

Crossed small muddy streams with pebbles/unpaved roads, drove up steep hills, went to their property in the woods and parked for weeks. Drove back just fine…

This thing sees the same use and has never bottomed out or hit anything hard and it’s wearing the front end out? Odd…

The Camry is tough I used to drift one by wedging a friends hat in the parking brake release and pumping the E-brake pedal like a clutch.

I live on gravel roads my truck has been fine. I didn't get the FX4 package and instead got Bilstein 5100s and Wildpeaks on a Sport 4X4. Our trucks are far from perfect but you've had too many issues. Although I guess with a 10yr/175k warranty you could just keep it until every conceivable thing is fixed I suppose.
Lol. You’re the first person I know to have tried to drift a Camry. Probably would’ve been entertaining to watch.

Performing a System Reset

  1. Press and hold the Seek up and the audio unit Power buttons simultaneously until the screen goes black.
  2. Wait for the system reset to complete.
  3. Press the audio unit Power button to switch the system on.
How do I perform a SYNC master/factory reset?

After the rear end was rebuilt, exactly 23 months later, it’s starting to leak again. Does this sound like something else (like a suspension piece causing an axle to not seat properly) or is this just poor Ford build quality?

I am completely stock not lifted or leveled.
