The carrier bearing assembly isn't sold separately. The Ford DS comes as a single unit. If you have a press you may be able to get it apart in one piece.

I would like to add my 2cents to the conversation......

My 2021 was experiencing carrier bearing failure at 8,400 miles....the whistle/ squeal.....not wanting to wait for the dealer to look at it and most likely deny warranty replacement becuase of all the lift and suspension mods I have done...., I ordered and installed the Woods one peice....also did the Pinion angle shims to get my flange angles very close to parallel with each other ( I'm OCD ) .....I made the Pinion flange angle 0.4° lower to leave a little room for axle wrap....

Everything TJC has been telling us is true.....One of the best, worth every cent mod that can be done to our Rangers....?....
.
I did the same. I had to get the angles correct, even though it felt fine before adjustment. 2.5 degree shims rotated the rear pinion angle down a touch too far, so I had our machine shop shave off a half degree from the shims. Not it's right on the money.

Also, for anyone interested, I wanted all the hardware to match. I went to belmetric.com and ordered all new grade 10.9 flange bolts, M12 X 1.75 40mm for the rear, and M12 X 1.75 50mm for the front due to the spacer.

Received and installed the driveshaft today. Time 30 minutes by myself while my pregnant wife watched and judged me. ?

The drive is buttery smooth. It’s not why I bought the DS but man did it make a difference. My wife even noticed the lack of startup shake when accelerating. That’s a good sign.

Hmm from reading the comments I'm definitely going to invest into a one piece drive shaft though once I pay the truck off next year since I'm not driving it all the time. The shaking at 75 mph irritates me especially when it wasn't like that when I first bought it

I think most all 5G Rangers have the shudder. People either ignore it, live with it, or think that it is normal and accept it.

I do not think it is good for the drive train, esp the transmission.

Ford cut a lot of corners to save $$. As a result, they are now paying the cost in warranty repairs... and in lost repeat business. I will not be a repeat customer until I see a dramatic increase in quality.

Have you had the tires balanced? That's usually the cause of high speed vibrations. Driveshaft shudders are under 20 mph (usually) under heavy throttle.

The shaking was there before I got new tires and had two alignments done but nothing seemed to fix it. I'll try to re balance the tires to be sure however its mostly coming from the passenger rear area vs all around and it comes and goes to.

I tried everything including balancing the tires. Only the TW one piece Drive Shaft cured my problem.

The low speed shudder was always there.

My "shaking" began at =>75 mph and rapidly increased as speed went up. It was bad enough that I will characterize it as "dangerously violent". So bad I never drove above 70mph again until I changed out the drive shaft. It is now smooth up to 95mph (I haven't tested any faster). Same stock tires, same balance.

How tightly is it pressed in? My idea was to pop it off and have an aftermarket bearing used, one with firm rubber and not that crap ford used.

But I suppose, so times being cheap would be more costly in the long run since I don't have a press or means to press one in. Maybe in a year or two I'll afford one.

Is this needed when replacing to a one piece driveshaft? Or only when it's lifted or leveled?

The less the angles the less wear to the u joint bearings. Ideally the angles should match. I think Ford states =<5 degree tolerance is good.

The same holds true for the front axles. Lifted trucks wear the axle CV Joints faster than non lifted.

All this stated, I simply replaced the driveshaft and called it a day when I had no vibration. But my truck is stock height. I may check the angles when I change the oil and grease the slip joint this time around. Only takes a minute or two, but I am not too worried about it.

I 'll be using this handy little tool to check it.
