Got a weird noise. I’ve heard it on some cars before but never knew what it was. I have stock suspension and stock sized tires. I’ve looked at the wheel liners and they’re fine.

while turning left at near full lock or full lock I hear this:

It might make the noise turning right, but I don’t hear it as well.

Any ideas what this sound is?

It sounds like the tire is hitting some plastic under there. Also check that the brake hoses are secure. I had one come loose when the bolt holding it to the upright fell out. It was left loose by an alignment shop.

Have you put the truck in full lock at a standstill then looked and felt inside the wheel well to see determine if the tire is rubbing?

I really don’t think it’s rubbing but I hadn’t gone full lock at a parked status to check things. I’ll do that tomorrow and circle back.

Checked it at full lock and parked. No contact anywhere. Brake line was fine. Fender liners fine. I replaced the diff fluid about a month ago, but I checked for leaks and there are none. I had my wife drive into my driveway slowly while I walked along checking things. Almost sounded like a creaky suspension, but I’m starting to think it’s the rubber boot. As my wife reversed and repeating the turn in process the sound diminished. I dunno what to make of it at this point. Just ignore it and turn up the radio or something. It’s driving great.

If you suspect that the boot might be making the noise ,I would get some silicone spray and apply it to the boots as they can rub when flexed in a tight turn.

Had a similar noise on my ranger a while ago after getting new tires and alignment, pre lift kit. Turns out, the inside of the tire was rubbing on the coil at full lock. When’s the last time you had alignment done and are you sure it was done correctly? When I took mine back to have it corrected, the guy told me the camber was way off and whoever did the alignment screwed up.

my God, the tire was rubbing the suspension coil? As in, the spring? Or am I misunderstanding what you mean by coil?
