Another page turns in our wonderful distopia. I see used vehicle prices skyrocketing as more unwanted garbage gets forced into all new cars.

"This comes after the board determined the crash was caused by excessive speed, drug-impaired driving, and Nevada’s failure to deter the driver despite being a repeat offender."

Sounds familiar . Pass another law to restrict the device but let's overlook the root cause . :(

My 87 f150 I had in high school maxed out at 85...

That was about as fast as you wanted to take that thing, unless you wanted to feel like you're launching to space....

I'd need more information before forming an opinion.

The formula for Kinetic Energy includes velocity(squared), which means that speed has a proportionately large impact (no pun intended) in a wreck.

For example, increasing one's speed from 10mph to 40mph doesn't just increase the Kinetic Energy absorbed /transferred at impact by 4x.... It actually increases it 16x. Bottom line is speed kills.

We can blame the lunatic behind the wheel all we want, but that won't save my daughter's life if her car is hit by some @sshole going 110mph.

What top number I'd be okay with is undecided. Where I live we have posted speed limits of 80mph. We often drive 85mph. But I don't see any reason for somebody to be going 95+mph... though I see it happen pretty much every day.

Oh you have the one piece driveshaft?
No.

I got stubby speed limiting axle as required by local law for light commercial vehicles (curb weight between 3500-7500kg). As noted the truck has been modified by Ford (really Arctic Trucks) to have the curb over 3500kg (from 3130kg stock -> 3650kg modded).

I thought you were joking but wow it's true. Here in Freedom Land we can do 100mph all the time as long as you have the money to pay the (not income adjusted) fines and a good lawyer.

You don't have to see the reason. It's not for you to decide or worry about. Maybe somebody's having a pregnancy complication, maybe Dad's having a heart attack, maybe they've been overseas for a year and they're trying to make their daughters school play the day they land stateside... who cares.

Until they do something wrong, it's nobody's business. This is same argument used against gun owners. "Something bad is BOUND to happen so take them away from everyone before it does."

It's also the slippery slope that opens up the door to all kinds of cringy regulations. They'll start by getting everyone onboard by hitting you in the feels about speeding and the children. Then you'll have to get rid of your dirty truck because of it's emissions.

Then you'll have to buy a new car that runs on cow shit and costs more per week than a gasoline vehicle but too bad, nobody can see why you need a gas powered car anymore.

Freedom isn't safe, it's liberating. If you can't handle the dangers of living in a free society, go check out Communism.

Um, going 95+ is doing something wrong. And, of course you run straight to a Communism schtick because it's all a conspiracy and everybody's out to get you. ?

Your gun comparison makes no sense (and check out my handle, I'm pro-gun). Your analogy would be the same as saying that we should get to own anti-aircraft guns because they're not illegal until we use them. (Hint: There's never a legal time to go 95+ mph... even if you're pregnant.)

It's not communism to know that virtually no drivers have the ability to drive that speed safely and, even if they did, the other drivers on the road make it still an unsafe speed to drive.

Remember the "the right of your fist ends at the tip of my nose" quote?... The right of somebody to drive at an illegal speed ends when they can no longer do it without unreasonably threatening others. We each assume a certain amount of risk by using public streets, but none of us assumed the risk of an @sshole driving an illegal and unsafe speed. Your anarchist theory would mean there should be no speed limits at all. FREEDOM!!! ?

I was going to make a "Get off my lawn" comment, but based on your handle, I think you've got it covered. SMH
