No engine cover, no painted tailgate handle, no adjustable front headrests, no adjustable rear headrests no middle bed tie down, no rear door touch access sensors.. So they skimped out in several noticeable places this year.

I thought I read on here, that Lariats used to have the lock/unlock sensors on the rear door handles. My Lexus had them on all, but it seemed silly, since the front door handle was literally 2 feet away.

You don't have the intelligent access on your two rear doors? Are the dimples in the door handle? I was wondering if you just had to go into the menu to select all doors to open? I cant remember if there's a setting or not it's been almost two years since I bought mine.

No, they are just plain door handles.

This is the first I've seen of this, I have all four on my 2019. I guess they figured it was easy enough to just grab the front handle to open the rears. :sunglasses:

Is it "skimping out" or Covid related supply chain issues?

Items they dropped to save $.
You don't think it's odd that after multiple Covid related plant shutdowns in 2020, the 2021 models have the most "decontenting" we've seen?

Considering the JIT manufacturing processes in the automotive industry, and the fact that it's prevalence has virtually caused the automotive chip shortage. I'd bet supply chain issues have something to do with most of the cuts.

In fact, I'd say it's the MOST likely culprit.

Bean counter cuts. Highly doubt anything other. These aren't one year omissions.

Family owned Ford dealership for 97 yrs. Saw plenty of these chincey cuts to product over time.

However I wasn't complaining about these things I was making an observation and agreeing with those who had mentioned that some cuts had been made this year. Isn't the first or last time this will ever happen on a vehicle. But im still very happy with my new Ranger.

I think its a combination.

Cost cutting drops like the adjustable headrests in the rear and 3rd set of tiedowns happened with the 2020 model year. Knuckles moving to steel were definitely a supplier issue, and I'd bet engine covers, rear IA door handles, and front headrests are a continuation of supplier/Covid issues.

To be honest, it is only through reading this thread that I realized that my Blue 2019 Lariat's tailgate handle is painted blue--I had to run out to the garage to check--which is another way to say that it is not something that I will miss much on future models....
LOL. I had to do the same thing. I have a '19 Lariat and also had to go to the garage to see what I had. Mine is also painted. I do have a lot of chrome on it but don't see any reference on the window sticker about any chrome package so apparently I didn't specify it on my order when it was placed.

That got me to wondering... Besides the chrome tailgate handle, what else would be chrome if the package had been ordered?

I was trying my best to keep this damper free. ? Since you brought it up they should incorporate one into the taillight housing like on the F150.
YES, they definitely should have done that.

Mirror accents, bumpers, all door handles I think. Grill maybe.
