The plastic cover is what moved on mine. OP's looks like the cover has been removed. I think he would have to cut or remove & install aftermarket to gain space there.

Yeah, I gotchu. You like the look and you want the tires to fit. My point was mainly that a leveling kit will do zero to address the issue. A leveling kit does look good though.

The only things that will fix the your tire rub are either reducing the backspacing by removing the wheel spacer all together or using a smaller spacer, or, as you said, adjusting the crash bars. By adjusting I mean you can cut them, you can remove them entirely, or you can swap them with aftermarket bars that may or may not provide the same protection as the OEM bars.

I'm less inclined to touch the bars because they are a passive safety component designed to save you or your passenger's legs from being crushed in an accident, but that's just my preference.

A level in the front will help.

You move the crash bars up 2.5", and since the tire is round, it will move it above clearance issues he's having now.

That being said, start by moving the crash bars forward.

Before I removed my bars, they had almost 1/2" movement forward.

Sure, that's true when the truck is sitting still, but what happens when the suspension compresses and the wheel moves up into the wheel well? It's gonna bump right into the same stuff it would hit without any lift

All that to say: Crash bars gotta move if he's gonna fit that size with that offset

he's not going to hit something to compress the suspension 2.5" with his wheels turned. Sorry, not buying it.

Hi everyone
I really appreciate all the posts and advice. So, I will be leveling the front and ask the installer if the crash bar can be pushed in and if not I will either install an aftermarket intrusion beams or just remove the crash bars but most likely go with the aftermarket. Thanks again!

So, if you tried to loosen the bars but couldnt break the bolt free, the nut is welded or something to the mounting point. Only the bolt will spin. Just a heads up, at least on my 2021. Just removed mine in the end.

@awd.nv Oh thank you. When you say removed, did you end up cutting the bars?

Yeah cutting it meant we didn't need to take the bumper off from the looks of it. I was able to get a bit of movement from the bars by loosening them but not enough.

Regarding how needed they are, there was a Blue Ranger on IG that had 37" tires, he was in a head on collision with someone that turned in front of him. The tire was no where near entering the cabin, think he just needed a new steering rack and minor parts because he was so lifted. 99% sure he said he had no crash bars installed, it was over a year ago but I remember having some peace of mind.

I also have a death trap of a 66 Mustang so the Ranger is miles safer than that thing which was another factor in just removing them over high clearance ones.

I think in his build video he shows that he removed them. Crazy cool build.

The bars are there for offset frontal collision that could push the tire into the cab. The amount of offset in the collision determines where the force is applied to the vehicle. In the case of like 40%-50% offset (i.e. 40%-50% of the vehicle width is involved), the bumper takes on most of the crash and the wheel is not pushed as much. At like 20% offset the wheel is almost directly hit and could absolutely get pushed into the cab. The crash bars are intended to cover that frontal area that the frame does not protect.

So yeah, it's for a specific, but very real, type of collision that most people never experience. You can totally remove them and most likely not have your legs crushed in an accident - like I've never been in a collision that severe and I doubt I ever will - but you should be aware of the risk you open yourself up to when doing so.

I actually got the alignment done the same day the tires were installed at (lifetime alignment) discount tires . Once I get the leveling kit installed and it's settled, I'll get it realigned.
Did you get the print out. Because in spec alignments at discount are not always the best. I go to the dealer and say no road test, align exactly to spec for maximum tire life. It will follow the crest of the road more, but tires last longer and truck coasts longer.

Slightly off perfect can he in spec but cause some issues. Just a thought.

At this point I recommend dealers only too. Had a horrible experience when I went to get my '21 Tremor aligned after a 1" level. Firestone claimed they had updated alignment software but they aligned it as an FX4 and the steering wheel was 20 degree off at least.

Same thing at another shop, lied about their specs. No one else in town had updated machines and the ones that verified they did were booked several days out and now I am stuck with a bad alignment. Ended up driving to my buddies shop a state over to get the right specs done.
