If it came to the U.S. it wouldn’t have these payload or towing numbers.
Most other countries don’t have as conservative specs for their vehicles as the US sold models even when the vehicles are identical.

Just reinforces what I said earlier, it looks like a Chevy Colorado with Rangeresque styling. But now that I see all these other midsize trucks thrown in, it looks like VW borrowed small touches from everyone.

Didn't VW offer theirs with a full time 4wd/AWD system?

Still might be another difference if that carries over.

Not from my experience, my dad had a vw once, that suckers interior fell apart within a year despite him babying it, hell the buttons peeled the leather ripped the cupholders broke it was a piece of trash just like every other german car. Our ranger interiors arent glamorous but at least the buttons dont disintegrate and I am going to neglect mentioning the parking brake boot lol.
How old was his VW?

Might be issue with the Mexico factory. The german one (a Touran) which I used to have is still with the inlaws and is still in good condition even after long years and 280,000 miles.
Very well may be, but every german car Ive seen has been of questionable quality, they drive great but beyond that I keep a distance lol

I've got one with 170,000 miles on it and outside of maintenance, it's been a peach. I had to steal it back from my kid while the Ranger was in the shop and it still drives like top. Much better fit and finish inside. Doors are more sound proof and solid sounding. Just can't haul anything or leave the pavement.

Correct, it's available here on the current V6 diesel Amarok as standard.
You can get that here already in the Ford Everest (Ranger base SUV) or the Raptor so wouldn't be too hard to implement if Ford / Vdub wanted to.

Looks more like the current Amarok than the new Ranger looks like the current Ranger???
Current Amaroks don't have rear airbags either, a major reason why many companies buy Rangers in preference.
Have no idea why they wouldn't put them into the new model since Ford would have engineered them in. Will still cost them sales if they don't.

I hope it is not like my Touareg was... I had to pull out the front drivers seat to get to the battery...

There were other little nuances also, like VW saying the V8 had to be removed to change the alternator....

Other than that it appears to be a nice little truck.
