My daughter lives north of Dallas. On a few occasions, things I ordered for her showed that same day or the next. Directly shipped by Amazon from warehouse to doorstep.
Living in rural Va., I was surprised that I was able a new cell phone same day on Amazon. Ordered first thing in the morning, and when I got home I saw a strange car in the driveway. It was a plain-clothes lady in what appeared to be her own car, with my new phone. I was only without a phone for about a day and a half after dunking it in the river.

You called me in here damnit !
One of the only businesses that I know that can constantly lose money and still be propped up for it. It's just another thing the government has their hands on that costs us taxpayers millions each year.

Looks like you need some thicker skin when taking about the USPS. Jokes have been flying around since the days of Cheers and Cliff Clavin. ?

Our local Amazon driver was very good, always put the package on the front porch (which we never use) out of the way under cover, and sent us a pic. Too bad she got arrested for stealing a dog out of someone's yard.
Was she a Haitian immigrant?

Edit -- i see the reference was already made on follow on threads. The amount of memes i'm seeing concerning springfield ohio is staggering.

I don't watch the news anymore (it's way to toxic for me) so what's with Springfield,OH? If it's bad you can PM me. I was under the impression when he said Springfield it was in reference to the Simpsons. lol

Required to "lose" money by serving the public, VERY rural areas that keep PO open for the community, older "non internet " people , WV has lots of those, as do others I imagine, also , USPS has a mandate to "prefund" retireies 75 years in advance, comes of the top at the beginning of the year, counts for almost all the "loses" , taxpayers DO NOT FUND the USPS ... but I'm sure the private sector will be much cheaper, and better for the public, shareholders will demand it ...

Does the government not supply it with money by propping it up every year? if so then it is taxpayer money because the government has an endless printing press which is costing us more and more through inflation and taxes.

I'm not saying a private company will be cheaper but it will be more efficient. There's no private company that could sustain these kind of losses and remain in business. Someone will figure it out and those who want to live way out in remote area should pay more. Just like those who want to live along the river, in FL along the ocean or in CA on a cliff should pay more for house Insurance because they live in an area prone to natural disasters.

The "money" that "props" them up is from the USPS's own fund, tied in with the retirement prefund for people that are not even born yet, take away that requirement , they usually break even (the plan in the way back government papers ) or make money... if people would rather have and endless convoy of underpaid, non union workers racing up and down the road (yeah, gonna be in far more of a hurry than the lazy ass mail man, that you personally know and recognize, and who knows when your away and stuff, cause it's the same guy every day, i like the MINIMAL amount of people up our road and in the area) but it's coming , your side is gonna win this one , I'm out of there (almost)so no biggie, I just don't like what's replacing it, way too many cons and maybe no pros at all...

OMG, I wonder if you can get a civilian model. Maybe set it up for camping or something.
I'm sure that in 20 years some will become available at federal government auctions

Kicked some major ass with that hair dryer !!! That's with one leg, fighting yellow jackets (damn things have been EVERYWHERE the last few days, no nest, just thousands of them roaming around being assholes , stung once), and many smoke breaks...not bad... but just like Danielson, I got to do both sides says Mrs. Miyagi...
