Hi everyone!

I stumbled upon this site researching these Rangers and wanted to introduce myself!

I recently picked up this used '21 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 in Cactus Grey from the local Ford Dealership. After driving it around for a few days now, I have to say I love this little truck so far! It's got a surprising amount of pickup for a little 4-banger turbo and weighing nearly 4500lbs! I was previously eyeing some of the 3rd gen Toyota Tacomas but stumbled upon this truck at the dealer down the street. Being Ford Gold Certified, having 41k miles on the clock, a 12-month comprehensive warranty, a powertrain warranty out to 100k miles, and having the FX4 package, I couldn't resist! It also came from the dealer already equipped with some aftermarket parts like a Rough Country lift, forged upper control arms, and American Racing wheels that are well appreciated.

The GF and I are big fans of the outdoors (i.e. hiking, camping, boondocking, etc.), but to date, we've been always limited by our vehicles. Having previously lived in the Midwest and a city, we never had much need for a truck like this. Coming from a modified '17 Infiniti Q50, an OBS F150 XLT RWD, and the GF's Volvo S60 sedan; I love the opportunities this vehicle presents in terms of what we can do and where we can access. Our new truck, Roxanne, will receive its inaugural test run on a local dirt trail, through the black mountains, on the way out to Lake Mohave this weekend. Living in rugged NW Arizona, we're looking forward to getting it out on some forest roads, mountain passes, and rocky trails soon!

I will do some lurking through the forum pages here, but if anyone has suggestions for accessories like a reputable on-board air compressor (for airing tires up/down), some supplementary lighting equipment (like the Diode Dynamics ditch lights), or other accessories/must-haves, I would love to hear them!

If you see us out and about, give us a wave or say hi!

ROXANNE!
You don't have to stop at the red lights . Those days are over, and now all the Tacomas look at you with spite!
ROXANNE!
Look at the way you reflect that light !
Somehow I'll get the money,
I don't care if it's wrong or if its right.
ROXANNE! ...

And , you didn't just stumble here, it was destiny!

That sign and me under it is now on my bucket list, damn , that's ?...

It's only a mile or two off Interstate 40!
There isn't a lot to see in the Town of Kingman itself, but it's nestled amongst a few different mountain ranges and valleys, has some great hiking and offroad trails nearby, and is a short drive from the Colorado River and several of its reservoirs and lakes. It's worth a stop if you're passing by!

Welcome! I just moved away from AZ (lived in the valley in Goodyear) but we've done a lot of off roading in Sedona and UT. You'd be surprised what this truck can do even stock and like James said if you add a tune it takes off like a rocket. ?

This was my '19 all stock with a 2.5" level and 33's, well 32.6 for the technical ones out there. I changed it out to Eibach suspension all around which made a huge difference and much better than a level kit.

I'm not entirely against the idea of tuning it so long as the Dealership will honor the warranty still and I can find a tuner that will set me up for 91 octane... I'll have to give them a call and see what they say.

My old Infiniti I traded in was turned up to approximately 420HP and nearly 500LBFT, but in the 50,000 miles I owned it (64-115k), I had to replace both turbos on two separate occasions due to failing compressor seals. (once for natural wear/tear mileage and a second time for bad fuel and over boosting at high altitude) Makes me hesitant to tune it if Ford Motor Co and/or the dealer is going to give me a hard time about upping the boost.

nice color choice. did it come with a damper already installed?
A tailgate damper I'm assuming? (I haven't seen any damper kits for the front suspension/steering components yet.)

No, it does not have one installed currently. Any recommendations on which kit to purchase?

You look a fit guy. You won't need a tailgate damper unless you are wanting your arms to atrophy and look like Steve Urkel.
