Nice place you have here – I stumbled on the site while doing a web search on bed-rail heights as measured from the ground. I am in the early, early stages of shopping trucks to replace my current ride. I've looked at several options and keep gravitating back to the Ranger.

Not really much to tell in terms of intro, but here's the thumbnail: just an ordinary guy doing life in America - military service (USMC) just out of high school. Got out after 4 years and married my high school sweetheart, blessed now with two grown daughters, two God-sent sons in law, and three outstanding grands. One dog (English Springer Spaniel), 57 previous cats (lifetime total, never more than 2 keepers at one time). Getting close to retirement and looking forward to it. Journalist, theologian & psychologist by trade. Username: indicative of the Journalist in my educational pilgrimage, and of a long-dead theologian who spelled his name "Smyth." In his day he was a mover and shaker; I appreciate people who are willing to swim against the tide of popularity, comfort, and the status quo to do what's right.

Long-time Ranger owner: my previous Rangers were (in order) a 1990, a ’93, and 2001. I put lots of miles on each of them. The 2010 that I’m driving now was bought eight years ago with less than 20,000 miles on it. The odometer is at 159,220 + or - a few miles. A long-time forum junkie (more than 20 years participating in motorcycling forums), I read more than I post, but occasionally I chime in.

Thanks to the sponsors and mods for what you are providing. 'Tis a good work you do!

Rick,

I second this. This is a good forum almost always upbeat. Plenty of good advice and experience to draw from. Hold on to your wallet. If you end up with a new Ranger you may find yourself buying things you did not even know you needed, but its great fun making it your own.

As for retirement. In mid January I will be retired four years. Even though I liked my job, I have not regretted it for one second. As the old saying goes, Live within your means and within your jeans. Mostly enjoy life. Good luck.

Thank you all for the kind words of welcome. The more I read about the new Ranger, the more I need want a new Ranger. Is this what the shrinks mean by confirmation bias?

Maybe, and maybe not, but either way I'm reading up on the truck and enjoying the site.

Thanks again, and best Christmas wishes to all!
