Hello all, and thank you admins for the quick turn around. It’s my first time owning a truck or really modifying a vehicle. 2019 Ranger, XLT 4x4 creeping up on 100k.

Had it almost a year and been making fixes and modifications here and there. New main and cabin filter. New battery. New EGR DPFE (P139C code fix) Topped off the coolant. Stubby Jr. antenna to fit in the garage. Just got a spray in bed liner and running boards (mostly parents and expecting wife) Tires are still good thankfully.

As the OD gets closer to 100k what should I be looking out for? What else should I expect to change out? Or what are some must haves to change or add beyond maintenance? Thank you all in advance!

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations to you and your wife and also to your parents who, I see, are also expecting. That’s gotta be weird huh?

Perhaps set aside approx $7K in cash for "unanticipated repairs"?
@DukeCanBuildit can explain how best to negotiate that particular minefield, I think. I'll be back in a bit with the popcorn.

Congrats on your Ranger. There's a lot of good times to be had with them. Check out the "Pic Whore" thread to see what cool adventures many of our folks have had with theirs!

If you don’t already have them, you’ll need to get two things right off the bat…
  1. a good sense of humour
  2. a thick skin
The thick skin will come in handy if you have trouble finding a good sense of humour right away.

Lots of friendly folks on here with tons of Ranger experience. Even some very knowledgeable techs, which we’re all grateful for. Even if you never have a need for their expertise, you’ll learn a lot from how they help others. With over six years of threads and 15,000 members, the archives are loaded with information - search and you shall find. There are a bunch of inside jokes flying around that might seem confusing at first but you’ll be up to speed on them in no time.

Whether you sit back and watch or dive right in and participate, it’s sure to be an entertaining place.

Welcome, OP, and just to add to what Duke said, if you aren't yet fluent in sarcasm to go along with the tongue-in-cheek, don't worry, we'll get you there right quick.
It is important to note that rarely is sarcasm on this forum evil or malicious in nature, and that's what keeps most of us here now even if Rangers have been traded off. We've become fambly. 🤪

Welcome to the forum! As the other members said, always keep a sense of humor, and I will add to Have Fun!
As far as your Ranger being on the high mileage side. I have a 22 with a 104,000+ miles on it and another member on here @Msfitoy has I believe 150,000+ miles on his 19 Ranger. 😎🤘

Check the rubber hose that holds your radiator fan in the correct position. When I joined this forum, that was one of the first threads I saw, and sure enough, my hose was broken too. Saved me a ton of trouble.

Ciao, Giuseppe. Sorry, that's the extent of my Italian, and TBH, I'm not quite sure I'm using that right. I know we anglophones tend to think of "Ciao" as "Goodbye", but if I understand correctly, it can also be used as "Welcome"? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, first step for both you & OP (after calibrating your sarcasm & tongue-in-cheek levels, of course) is to decide what you want to DO with the truck. Is it for work or play? Daily driver or weekend warrior? If for work, is it going to be a mobile work station or supply hauler? If for play, off-roading, camping, trailer beast, etc.?

Once you have that figured out, let us know, open your wallet, and watch the parade of delivery trucks to your door.

BTW, OP, if I understand you correctly and you're a (soon-to-be-) new dad, the tailgate makes a great highway diaper change table. Ask me how I know.

@LaBalbe - I ate at an Italian restaurant once where the menus were only printed in Italian - let me see if I can help….

Benvenuto Giuseppe, mi sembri davvero troppo formale. Sei sicuro di non essere Intelligenza Artificiale?

Is that sort of the same thing as having stayed at a Holiday Inn Express?
