When I got my Ranger a year ago I installed a ReTrax roll cover with the "T" slot. I had a set of T-slot mounts from a previous vehicle that fit, and I made up customer Aluminum cross-bars. Well after a year of hauling Kayaks, Mountain Bikes and Ski's - the old plastic mounts have started to crack. I decided to make up my own new mounts from T6061 Aluminum. I used 3" angle for the base, welded 2 pieces of 2x1 angle together to form a pocket and slid my cross-bars into them. Installed my Thumb Screws to lock them in place, and welded on a couple of inverted "T"'s to aid in retention strength and alignment.
I'm trying them out with my kayak mounts this weekend and if I'm happy with the functionality I'll have them powder coated flat black to match the cross- bars. What are your thoughts, suggestions or recommendations

Looks good! Love seeing custom fab, need to get myself a welder and learn to weld.

I really like those covers, especially with built in track for racks. Nice job!

Late for this project maybe, but a Canadian source for relatively cheap extruded aluminum with or without machining, plus lots of brackets and hardware.
