Has anyone taken the plunge and purchased one? I would like to get one except clearance to the tailgate when closed and when closing is extremely tight and the bedside ends.

It is too expensive to take the plunge and not be able to install it.

It is a tight area. I had to lower the dealer installed license plate frame as it was getting pinched between the bed and the tailgate.

Putco is largely way way overpriced. I don't say that often about companies as I can value making a profit. But you could piece together your own system for 1/4 the price by going to superbright LED's and getting a waterproof LED strip light, aluminum channel, and a PWM bypass dimmer (brake light / tail light) constant current driver from Diode Dynamics and achieve the exact same product for a fraction of the money.

Thanks for the suggestion Jeff. My concern is having the tailgate light bar play well with led tail/brake lights and BLISS. Putco has developed the technology so theirs is plug 'n play.

Yup,

Call me crazy,
But I'm gonna actually trim off the entire upper plastic section. That plastic piece/section is awfully close & distorted in the winter. It almost touches the bottom lip of the tailgate [when lowered] in winter.

I had to be cautious in removing the ice/snow on the step area too, before I could lower my tailgate.
Problem is, my kids & wife don't pay attention around the bumper & tailgate when opening/lower it in winter.

The entire plastic "line" about the plate will be gone...

Look how close my plate is...

Lmk how you get a straight even cut, what you use to cut it.

Thanks

There's a crease or slight indented line that goes across the entire length just above the license plate.
I'm debating if I will use that or measure across just below it...

I'm looking into what type of blade I should use to get a clean-cut without melting the plastic.
