I originally bought my truck while in Maryland. From there I went back to my home State of California. In December I accepted a job in Savannah, GA. This time I towed a 6'x12' Uhaul filled to the brim.

The trip from Ventura, CA to Savannah, GA was a five day trip covering 2,713 miles. Along the way I drove through the Mountains, flatland, freeways, causeways, bypasses, rain, and high winds. I ended up averaging somewhere in the 14 mpg range. Even with the 3,000lb trailer in tow, the Ranger was a pleasure to drive.

In 9 months of ownership, the Ranger has been to 21 States and D.C. 23,652 miles later, I could not be any happier choosing the Ranger over other midsize trucks.

Iā€™m biased, but I love the many variations of silver and gray you get with Iconic Silver. Itā€™s the chameleon of the Ranger colors.
Agreed. I bought mine because it had the cab configuration I wanted, was a base model, and had the FX4 package. I have ended up loving the Iconic Silver. Especially after a good wash and wax the deep gray tones come out. As a bonus it always looks clean even when it isnā€™t!

Sounds like you had a couple nice trips with your Ranger. Nice to see it gave you enjoyment and trouble free miles too. My last F150 was silver and you're right it was easy to take care of and always looked clean. You should try the 303 Graphene on it, I bet it would really show the depth of the gray tones and the Graphene detailer would really make it shine like a mirror. :D

Iā€™ll give the 303 graphene a shot! Currently using up the rest of my Motherā€™s and Meguiars stuff.
Iā€™m really excited to try the 303 UV protectant. Iā€™ve used the Chemical guys VRP and Meguiars Back to Black. From everything here on the forum and elsewhere it seems like the 303 UV protectant is superior.

First I bought into the damper, then the DeeZee bed mat, now the grapheneā€¦ whatā€™s next ?

Lol It's never ending when you're seeing cool stuff on here you never knew you needed. ?

The Aerospace protectant is great for the interior especially the dash. When I'm at work mine sits baking in the summer sun and still looks like brand new. They key with it is don't put it on to heavy or it'll have a streaky, greasy look. If that happens just get a fresh microfiber towel and buff it out.

In case you missed it I did a couple write ups on the Graphene and the detailer below. You can see how great it works and the depth it gives on mine. Even Robs @Rob09 white Ranger has a great shine to it. He even did his windows at his house and the rain beads up and is spot free.

I just took a trip out to Seattle and back to NY for Thanksgiving. Mostly I-90 out making some detours to see national parks and monuments Rushmore, Badlands, Teton, and craters of the moon. Went down to Moab on the way back and I-70 over to see a friend in VA beach before heading back home, 7900 mi total.

The ranger did it with no drama at all only thing that could be improved is the fuel capacity. With larger tires and a level you start to notice the reduced range especially when you are burning through the miles on a big road trip like that. I was filling up at least twice a day. I averaged 20.7mpg over the entire trip.

Amen to SCAB is a great road trip truck. Me wife and dogs did 6300 miles from cleveland to Portland and back. we took I90 out and I70 back. I love/hate the drive across the Dakotas, that is a longest straightest stretch of nothing. I'm glad you decided to get out of the oppressive cancer causing state of California... just leave the ideology behind

My iconic silver supercab base STX is almost due for its third trip across the country. Bought it in Utah last March, and left for Maine with 700 miles on the clock in April. Drove it back to Utah in October and will be headed back to Maine this April! 19,000 on it now, still loving it. Having a new, quietn reliable vehicle makes the trip much more enjoyable.

Thanks for the links! Thatā€™s what Iā€™m looking for the Chemical Guys VRP streaked way too easily. I really dislike the gray faded vinyl plastic look, so am hoping to head it off at the pass. Honestly, this forum is great.

No drama is right! Sounds like a great trip! 20 is my daily average, usually hit 24 on the trips. Iā€™ll look forward to the 20 as my trip mileage when I add the bigger tires ā›½ā›½ā›½

Scabs are excellent. Especially on the open road. Long stretches of nothing are hard. Good thing this forum wasnā€™t in earshot of me belting out Johnny Cash to stay awake on 40 between Winslow and Amarillo ?. Donā€™t worry I never developed that ideology, as Sid, Msfitoy has written, ā€œletā€™s go dampersā€

Beautiful truck...how many miles so far?
Thank you, 23,694 miles. Love your well-illuminated truck!

Quiet and reliable do make for a great road trip vehicle. Never been to Maine, itā€™s on my list.

Good for you! Sounds like a lot of ā€œbouncingā€ to me. LOL
I sure did bounce. Without going into more detail I had to seek out work elsewhere due to the current climate.

We just completed a 4,100 mile trip from Washington to Florida in my ā€˜21 Lariat Screw, FX4. We never hit any snow even on the passes in southern Oregon/Northern California. I have used my 4WD in Washington snow and was very pleased with how it did. We hit an incredible rain storm in southern Texas where you couldnā€™t see 20ā€™ in front of the truck but it still felt secure even in heavy rain (in 2 WD mode). As we make this trip to Florida and back every year, I bought this truck to make that journey. I am very pleased with the comfort and drivability of it. I averaged 21 MPG over the entire trip which included a couple sprints up to 100 MPH passing semis in very rural areas. I have a topper and the bed was full of stuff which all probably all added to the comfortable ride. I have no mods except for appearance stuff like lettering and of course, a dampner.

Yep this truck is too fun to drive. Comfortable too. Have fun with those 100mph sprints ?. Sometimes I do those too. Iā€™ll be adding a topper at some point. More for my weekend camping trips than anything else, but some extra weight in the bed will be good.
