Any one see these yet? They make a 2.3 for the Ranger. I can't decide how I feel about it. I like choices but I'm still holding out for something new from Ford.

JCR Offroad Engine Cover $149 (Sale Price)
- looks cool (at least better than bare, imo)
- should last a long time
- free shipping

- does nothing for sound deadening
- reminds me of the muffler shroud on a lawn mower
- still feels like it's missing something

JCR is known for their weird foods like hotdogs on their roof racks. I can’t help but seeing a bbq grill with this one.
Would work great if they made one for my xj- the 4.0 gets much hotter than this 2.3 in the ranger!

Needs water diverters, not slits for the water to drip through! OEM still beats it for saving the spark plugs.
Very good point. I had almost forgotten all the water on engine threads and that's kind of why I wanted one in the first place.

Now that I look closer....take away the slits and the hole, turn it upside down, and it resembles the fat drip catcher on my grill !!!

It is a huge markup for a piece of metal that most anyone could make themselves. $200 retail and on "sale" for $150, wow. Although it is marketed towards Bronco owners so they are used to getting ripped off.

Was going to ask the forums if anybody knew of an aftermarket cover. I'd like to get mine covered so that I don't get a rust problem, and I'm disappointed that the ford one was discontinued before their 'new design' is made available. But then I guess the original ford cover doesn't really prevent the issue in the TSB?

Anyway this aftermarket one looks like crap, doesn't look like it would fix the dripping problem either.

Seems like there is a market for one that prevents the dreaded cylinder-4-drip though.

I have the OEM cover, checked my front spark plug last week and it had no rust. My truck was parked outside the first year I had it too.

I wonder if putting some kind of high temp adhesive insulation on the bottom of it like I have seen used on firewalls for big turbo cars would provide some of that? Interesting, thanks for the link.

I completely agree. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to make smash burgers on it.
