Unless my old age has finally set in, up until this week, I could put in address in the Nav unit, while moving. It would ask something to the extent of “are you the passenger?”, which, if you lied and said yes then you could enter information.
This week there is no “are you the passenger?” question, only leaving the audible “For your safety, this feature is not currently enabled”.

Any ideas on changing this back?

Unless you did the Forscan hack, it has never worked for me. My understanding is that it was a US safety requirement.

There is a Forscan change that will allow it, but it changes a few things to a European slant (I can't remember the details).

Best of luck on the Forscan hack if you try. I'm really surprised that this is locked down in the US. We don't have this issue in Canada, and we're a Socialist Nanny State!

Our 6/2020 build has always prompted with something like "are you the passenger" and works while driving.

Haven't driven it in about 10 days. Maybe I'm in for a surprise.

Our 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe needs to be in Park.
Same. Something has changed, maybe some automatic update. Either way, kind of stinks.

I've never done any Forscan anything.

My 2021 never prompted the passenger question. It never allowed typing an address while moving. I use Google Maps dictation when I need to do that. I wonder if this is Sync 3.3 vs 3.4? The update happened right around early 2021, IIRC.

It’s a good question, as mine is a 2021, also. But then again, it worked last week.

my 2019 hasn't permitted this for a LONG time. have to use voice dictation. and for the times when voice just doesn't get it, I have to find a parking lot to type. fwiw, this is with Android Auto/Google Maps, not the baked-in nav (which I don't have).

My 2019 Ranger has never had a "are you the passenger" option while the vehicle is moving.

It is admittedly irksome to have the navigation refuse to take orders on the grounds that the vehicle is in motion. Still, punching the keyboard and reading the results while moving is probably not the smartest way to drive. Just saying...

Using Waze, I'm not able to type in a new address unless stopped, like at a light. I can scroll recent history though and select that while moving. No worse than trying to use any other functions on the screen.

My 15 Mustang, 17 Mustang and 21 Ranger never allowed me to type in a destination when the vehicle is moving.

no it is a sync navaigation vs a google maps/ andriod auto difference.

there is a reason I rejected dedicated navigation system in favor or google maps, even though i live and drive in places with out cell reception for dozens of miles. to many glitches, and lack of updates.

if I need a dedicated off road gps I will get one.
